Position Summary

A Retail Sales Associate must possess excellent sales skills. They must be outgoing, personable, and active listeners. Associates assist customers in the selection and sales of ski, snowboard, bike, and active sports apparel, equipment, and accessories. Associate will sell products through point of sale, and handle cash and credit cards. They must be familiar with retail shop merchandise as well as additional resort products and services. Duties include maintaining displays of products and restocking merchandise, researching product features and sharing knowledge with co-workers, assist with merchandise check-in and internal transfers. Staff also assist with store merchandise security by providing excellent customer service and responding to inventory control alarm systems per defined procedures.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities- Prepare Sport Shop for Opening by organizing merchandise fixtures, restocking products, and checking the dressing room for products, and cleanliness.- Assist Customers and generate sales, greet customers, and answer questions.- Sell services and assist with purchase selections and special orders.- Handle phone orders and package products for shipment.- Operate POS cash register transactions including complete POS opening and closing procedures.- Handle merchandise returns per the return policy.- Handle discounts, markdowns, and employee discounts.- Clean, dust, and vacuum as needed.- Build on your product knowledge by researching product materials for features and benefits.- Maintain overall resort/program knowledge.- Attend vendor clinics as scheduled.- Document safety concerns on safety huddle forma and share with co-workers.- Know how to contact Ski Patrol, dispatch, and know the location of Mountain Medical.- Monitor entry and exit traffic and merchandise in and out of the dressing room.- Provide good customer service so customers don't feel neglected.- Properly install Inventory Control tags and respond to tag alarms whenever activated.- Maintain Inventory by keeping a list of items that need their stock replenished.- Check all items for present and accurate labels and pricing.

Prepare Sport Shop for Opening- Organize merchandise fixtures, zip garments, and face merchandise.- Restock products.- Review communications memos and the website.- Check the dressing room for products, and cleanliness.

Customer Sales- Greet customers and answer questions.- Qualify customers and suggestively sell add-on items.- Sell services and assist with purchase selections and special orders.- Handle phone orders and package products for shipment.

Cashiering- Operate POS cash register transactions.- Handle merchandise returns per the return policy.- Handle discounts, markdowns, and employee discounts.- Bag purchases and present to customers with receipts.- Understand and complete POS opening and closing procedures.

Merchandising and Maintenance- Check all display fixtures daily.- Create appealing displays of products.- Organize product displays and fixtures, and replace any products sold from displays as soon as possible.- Clean, dust, and vacuum as needed.

Product Knowledge- Research product materials for features and benefits.- Share knowledge of products with team members.- Develop and maintain knowledge of all product categories.

Merchandise Check-in and Pricing- Verify packing slip for accuracy.- Record items to receive worksheets.- Attach price labels to items.

Attend Staff Meetings / Training- Attend staff meetings as scheduled.- Maintain overall resort/programs knowledge.- Attend vendor clinics as scheduled.- Participate in the mentorship of new staff.

Safety and Risk Management- Document safety concerns on safety huddle forma and share with co-workers.- Know how to contact Ski Pat
