Decides which images to gather to meet coverage demands.
- Capable of major assignment logístical planning - e.g. communications, staffing etc.
- May lead a small team of other staff photographers and stringers on a big story.
- In large centres, may play a role on a pictures desk editing pictures copy as needed.
- Fully conversant with all aspects of digital photography, picture editing and processing systems including Panikon and Photoshop Capable of being sent on assignment anywhere in the world and have the ability to transmit pictures.
- Able to deputise for local Chief Photographer as and when required.
- Embraces the principle of telling stories using the most suitable multimedia opportunities.
- May take on tutoring or mentoring duties.
