Economic Consultant

Moffatt and Nichol is looking for a proactive individual to join our team in Brazil, to support MN’s Commercial Advisory ongoing engagements and help capture new opportunities in the Region.

This position will primarily support MN’s engagement in LATAM with special focus on the Brazilian market and work with the Business Development team in capturing opportunities and expanding our market share in commercial advisory services. The individual will report to the Advisory Lead in London and will involve working with the London-based team, which collaborates with the wider Moffatt & Nichol advisory group in the UK, US and Latin America.

An integral part of this position is to contribute to the development of high quality proposals and reports in accordance to Moffatt & Nichol’s excellence guidelines and to manage and coordinate complex projects in the region.

Moffatt & Nichol is an independent global infrastructure advisor, offering analysis and cargo forecasting for ports and terminals, shipping, intermodal and hinterland markets, in addition to the company’s core engineering practices. We undertake a wide range of market studies, competitive and strategic analyses, transaction support, and commercial due diligence projects. Our clients include port and terminal operators, financial institutions such as infrastructure and pension funds, investment banks, private lending institutions, and government entities.

**Essential functions**

- _ Lead and contribute to the production of high-quality reports, taking ownership and responsibility for deliverables - this includes project management and data collection together with other members of the team_
- _ Directed and independent research for projects focusing on LATAM and Brazilian market_
- _ Creating/developing presentation materials detailing analysis and results and relaying clear and concise conclusions to executive level clients_
- _ Identifying and implementing innovative ways to present analysis and results_
- _ Liaising with internal and external clients and represent Moffatt & Nichol at client meetings_
- _ Work directly with the Managing Principal in developing a capture strategy for Brazil and LATAM and prepare a road map to implement it_
- _ A focus on quality deliverables, customer satisfaction, and maintaining and enhancing the group’s quality standards accreditation_
- _ Manages advanced spreadsheet modelling, including complex operational and financial models_

**Supervisory responsibilities**

May supervise and mentor lower economic analyst.

**Required education and experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field; required
- Master’s or MBA in related discipline; preferred
- 15+ years of experience in Ports, Maritime, Transit industries; required
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
- Ability to engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Ability to carry out independent research
- Having extensive knowledge and an established network in the Ports, Shipping and Inland Freight transportation sectors in Brazil and LATAM; required
- Good understanding of Excel and programming modelling is highly beneficial
