Farm Management Couple

**Mooiriver Area - KwaZulu Natal**: Our client is looking for an ambitious and driven Farm Management Couple to join the team.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

**Farm Manager**
- Agricultural Diploma/Degree
- At least 4 years’ experience in intensive crop farming essential
- Maize copping experience essential
- Knowledge of veld management
- Animal husbandry knowledge advantageous
- Previous experience with cattle
- Computer literate
- Must be dynamic, disciplined and have ownership mentality
- Strong management skills
- Ability to lead and work with a team
- Ability to speak Zulu
- Valid driver’s license

**Admin**
- Grade 12 with relevant bookkeeping certificates or qualifications
- Previous bookkeeping experience essential
- Strong financial acumen and ability to work with and within a budget
- General business acumen
- Computer literate
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- General Administration skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license

**RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO**:
**Farm Manager**
- Farm budgeting
- Cropping, pasture, cover crop budget annually
- General farm budget annually
- Alien species management budget annually
- Farm planning
- Cropping, pasture, cover crop plan annually (land prep, planting, spraying, fert, harvest, cover crop)
- Cropping, pasture, cover crop plan monthly (dates, staff, activities)
- General farm plan annually
- General farm plan monthly (staff, activities, dates)
- All farm general management and general staff management.
- Monthly board with each staff members activities, roles and responsibilities and leave dates.
- Delegating and management of staff general, security and cropping
- Allocate responsibilities and duties to crop and general staff members.
- Oversee, assist, and train staff members.
- Find solutions to challenges and obstacles that may arise.
- Ensure staff has required & correct equipment to function effectively.
- Oversee & manage staff members day to day activities.
- Consult with staff members to address any concerns & disputes.
- Initiate disciplinary actions if or when required.
- Set & maintain standard operating procedures & protocols.
- Ensure vehicles & equipment are serviced, repaired and maintained well.
- Manage inventory & equipment.
- Ensure and maintain growth of the farm.
- Manage and maintain health and safety standards and relations with employees.
- Ensure security of all assets including land, livestock produce and inventories.
- Ensure efficient and productive personnel management and assessment of staff.
- Participate in planning for long-term farm development.
- Maintain a positive working environment.
- Identify areas of skills improvement & arrange training for improvement.
- Hiring employees for minor duties in crops and general.

- Cropping
- Land prep planting, spray, fert, harvest
- Maize
- Planting, fert, lime, spray, mowing of pastures/ cover crops
- Maintain & improve pastures, planting, cultivating, irrigation, fertilizing, moving, etc. with instruction from team leader.
- Manage pasture health, weeds & pests with instruction from team leader.
- Manage & maintain irrigation systems.
- Planting of a variety of grasses with instruction from team leader.
- Production of bales/silage responsibilities with instruction from team leader.
- Preparing plans for the mode of harvest, harvesting schedules and collaborates with the farm operators for carrying out these activities.
- harvesting of crops at the right time.
- Deciding on the type, quality and quantity of the crops to be planted.
- Preparation of soil for planting crops. Specifically, Maize.
- Planting and spraying of crops.
- Purchasing of seed on Safex.
- Meeting the deadlines for producing yield and sending the yield to market for auctions.
- Management of sales and marketing of farm products - crop harvest.

**Admin**
- Profit and Loss
- Produce P&L monthly
- Check expenses vs budget
- Report to management team and owner on this
- Assist in setting of annual budgets
- Creditors
- Allocate invoices on spreadsheet for payment
- Print, upload, process and allocate invoices to applicable cost centres.
- Process and approve to suppliers to allocate payments accordingly
- Daily, weekly Weekly monthly re-cons of supplier statements with 0 to make sure all uploaded
- Requesting of invoices and statements and sending proof of payment to suppliers
- Filing of all supplier documents and proof of payments
