Purpose of the Job
Oxitec is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated, Health, Safety and Environment Technician to join our team. We are looking for a proactive and engaged professional to help Oxitec in keeping both insects and people comfortable and safe in our facilities and field operations. The right person to join our Oxitec team will share with us the passion for delivering our mission, the willingness to serve, the endless curiosity about our activities, and the creativity to always pursue the better solution.
**Responsibilities**:
- Implement safety standards, policies, and practices.
- Responsible for risk assessments, developing and implementing solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.
- Lead COVID prevention through an effective protocol.
- Ensure compliance and enforcement of global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.
- Develop safety plans for on-site emergencies, special events and other unique safety situations to assure proper evacuation procedures are followed.
- Manage HSE KPIs, ensuring safety records and data integrity, with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
- Consult and partner with legal for safety regulations interpretations and investigations.
- Ensure that waste is adequately treated and disposed.
- Manage PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
- Perform onboarding integration for new employees.
- Plan and execute Safety technical capacitation (NR-05, NR-06, NR-10, NR-11, NR-12, NR-17, NR-18, NR-20, NR-33, NR-35).
- Perform Safety inspections.
- Obtain and maintain Work Permits (APR, PT).
- Define topics for Daily Safety Dialog (DSD).
- Organize both internal and external compliance checks. Ensuring quality, frequency, safety, cost management and other aspects that can be evaluated to support the business.
Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements
- Technical degree in Safety.
- 5 or more years of field safety experience in construction, manufacturing, or similar industry.
- Knowledge of Fire Department licenses (AVCB) and Emergency Brigade.
- Knowledge of Safety regulatory agencies legislation.
- Intermediate English preferable.
