City: Bogotá, Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo
- Company: IDB Invest
- Posting End Date: 8/14/2025
**We improve lives**:
IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group and an international financial institution committed to addressing the development needs of Latin America and the Caribbean. Our mission is to support sustainable enterprises and projects that deliver financial results while maximizing social and environmental impact in the region.
IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Intermediaries, and Corporates.
In support of a new transformative business model “Originate to Share” our shareholders recently approved a $3.5 billion capitalization. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, nearly doubling annual financing from approximately $8 billion to $19 billion, and unlocking greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region.
**About this position**:
We are looking for a motivated, analytical, and tech-savvy Consultant. You will support the design and implementation of IDB Invest’s operations, ensuring that the financed projects and other activities are sustainable, comply with IDB Invest’s policies, and align with internationally recognized best practices regarding corporate governance.
You will work with the corporate governance (CG) team in the Environmental, Social & Governance (SEG) Division, part of the Risk Management Department (RSM) of IDB Invest. The CG team works with investment officers and clients to define the steps necessary to improve corporate governance, addressing compliance gaps vis-à-vis international best practices, identifying opportunities to proactively add value, and contributing to long-term development impact and sustainability. The CG team focuses specifically on CG risks and opportunities, working with companies, Boards of Directors, and senior management, as well as engaging in market activities with the overall objective of improving governance and thereby enhancing sustainability.
The CG team is responsible for reviewing and appraising proposed IDB Invest operations for compliance with IDB Invest’s CG Guidelines, as well as deploying technical assistance and developing new CG procedures, tools, and products as needed. CG Officers formulate recommendations and requirements for client action and incorporate these into applicable internal and client-related documentation to facilitate financing; monitor the CG performance of operations in the IDB Invest portfolio; and work to mobilize technical support for clients to improve the governance outcomes of operations. CG Officers work closely and coordinate with other organizational units of IDB Invest and the IDB, as needed, to accomplish these functions.
**What you’ll do**:
- Provide technical expertise on CG and conduct assessments in IDB Invest’s operations, factoring in industry best practices and standards;
- As part of CG assessments, support identifying key weaknesses, risks and areas of improvement and ensure that potential CG risks are well understood by clients and project teams;
- Work with clients to develop CG improvement plans needed to minimize and mitigate potential CG risks and add value to operations;
- Coordinate with the CG Officers to oversee projects to ensure implementation of mitigation measures;
- Mobilize technical support for advisory services and support officers in the execution of projects, including drafting of relevant documents, hiring, and reviewing output;
- Provide internal and external clients with capacity building on CG related topics by creating the design and conduction of information sharing schemes;
- Support in the update of guidelines, tools and training materials to facilitate the implementation and dissemination of best practices in CG;
- Assist in the development and upkeep of internal CG tools, dashboards, and databases to enable data-driven decision-making and improve team efficiency;
- Contribute to the preparation of internal reports, presentations, and documentation for management and donor-funded initiatives, ensuring clear and structured communication of CG-related activities and outcomes.
**What you'll need**:
- Education: An advanced degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role;
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience;
- Languages: Oral and written professional proficiency in English and Spanish required; knowledge of Portuguese desirable.
**Requirements**:
- Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Argentina, Brazil or Colombia or a non-citizen with residency or legal permit to work in the respective country in which you are to be assigned.
