**Karkloof area**, KwaZulu Natal**: Our client is looking for a Operational Manager to join the team.

***MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- Tertiary education in an agricultural related field
- Minimum 7 years’ experience within Avocado production
- Ability to work with staff and manage day-to-day operations
- Highly motivated
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficient with Excel. Experience with Health and Safety
- Mechanically minded
- Have the ability to delegate work
- Working knowledge of avocado fertilization principles and chemicals

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
- Health and Safety
- Ensure that all of our operations conform with strict health and safety protocol.
- Conduct risk analysis on all operations and ensure risk mitigation steps are taken.
- Orchard Development
- Pre planning, Land prep, planting and managing new orchards
- Develop project plan and timeline to complete new plantings
- Orchard layout design
- Wind break design
- Fencing design/requirements
- Water point layout
- Draft mechanical (tractor) requirements
- Yard layout
- Ensure all maintenance of equipment and infrastructure is carried out
- Maintain and implement checklists for all tractors, trailer and equipment.
- Develop weekly/daily work plans for all staff
- Staff training
- Develop and work with future farmers interns
- Put together a training program so that all future farmers get exposure to all aspects of farming operations
- Maintain and follow Global GAP and SIZA requirements.
- Submit monthly progress reports
- Submit overview future month tasks
- Review staff, tractor and chemical usage for invoicing purposes at month end
- Record tractor hours
- Monitor and record diesel usage.
- Suggest and make improvements on all aspects of the business.
- Control all financial receipts and submit invoice to head office on a weekly basis.
- Control Human resources
