RIZZO International, Inc. is seeking a Health and Safety (HSE) Consultant to work at a mine site project in Brazil. The HSE Consultant’s assignments/activities while assigned to this project will be under the direction of RIZZO’s Project Manager or assignee(s). RIZZO is providing oversight as an Independent Consultant, to ensure RIZZO’s Client is complying with the requirements to make “Emergency Preparation Activities” to protect the project workers and nearby communities from a potential dam failure.

Responsibility:

- Provide HSE support and perform rotations on two projects in Brazil
- Ensure that worker safety is at the forefront of the Client’s activities
- Emergency Preparation Activities are performed in accordance with the requirements of the client’s contract
- Ensure that the Client utilizes international best practices and construction standards in worker safety, and complies with their own

Emergency Preparation Activities Plan, policies, procedures, and relevant regulations
- Reviewing, evaluating, and advising on the Client’s plans and procedures to protect worker’s safety
- Reviewing, evaluating, and advising the Client’s ability to evacuate workers who perform necessary “emergency activities” in or around

the structures deemed to fail at any moment
- Provide comments on procedures regarding adequacy to meet intent of government’s worker safety laws, and international best

practices regarding worker safety
- Observe emergency activities being performed by the Client and report on daily basis the activities observed
- Identify and report, on a daily basis, of any deficiencies in plans, operations, and activities conducted
- Communicate daily with the Client, General Contractor and Subcontractor

**Required Skills**:

- Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Health and Safety or equivalent work experience
- Required level (years of experience) of field work experience - between 5 - 10 years
- Experience as Lead HSE Consultant on heavy civil construction projects.
- Fluent in English
- Preferably fluent in Spanish, and/or Portuguese
- Strong communication skills to effectively interface with other departments and locations in resolving HSE related issues and

implementing corrective actions
- Experience in tailings dams and/or safety audit programs for dams
- Self-confidence to challenge embedded behaviors and practices for continuous improvement
- Contribute to the field team’s assignments and goals
- Self-starter who can complete assigned tasks on time with little direct supervision
- Strong computer skills
