Local Unit & Position Description:
DNV is seeking a CMC Surveyor to join our Rio de Janeiro office in the
**Area South America**, as part of the Maritime Region Americas, consisting of a team of approximately 60 committed employees taking care of various technical services. These services are related to the following disciplines:
CMC - Certification of Materials and Components for vessels and offshore installations
NB - New Building classification for vessels and offshore installations
FiS - Fleet in service, ships and offshore units in operation
There are five office locations in the Area: Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Macaé, Buenos Aires and Viña del Mar. Beside this, we have people working from a home office, to cover the geographical needs of our clients.
We aim to be the front runner in innovation, digitalization and customer centricity. For various disciplines new regimes are continuously introduced. Recent examples are electronic certificates, remote inspections, 3D printing, sensor-based maintenance, alternative fuels and now heading towards autonomous shipping. Customer needs and footprint reduction are key elements in this.
In order to support the CMC activities in Brazil, we are looking for generalist
** Surveyor** to join our CMC team, based in Rio de Janeiro.
**Main tasks**
- Manage a group of customers and interact with colleagues from all over the world to follow up on their needs.
- Be the advisor of our customers to guide them in the regulatory landscape of maritime industry and support their development.
- Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.
- Work on-site surveys at manufacturers.
- Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments and documentation at all times.
- When applicable, to supervise the work of others and ensure that it is carried out as above and in an efficient and economic manner.
- Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of the organization.
- Exhibit customer oriented focus through promoting DNV and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions.
- Support Key Account Managers (KAM) as Technical Support Manager (TSM).

Position Qualifications:
**Position**:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical or electrical engineering or naval architecture.
- Good knowledge within maritime/offshore industry, qualification within technical discipline is an advantage.
- Previous experience of at least 2 years is an advantage.
- Fluent in Portuguese and excellent written and spoken business-standard English is essential.
- Registration at Brazilian Engineering Council (CREA) is mandatory.
- Prepared for active support of our processes on the way of transformation in a new digital world.
- Hold a valid driver's license is an advantage.
- Be available for travel up to 50% of the time in a year.
- Availability to work outside normal working hours, if the job requires.
