Staff Writer

Primary Purpose of the Position The staff writer reports to the communications manager and helps ideate and write, edit, and proofread institutional communications.. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Ideate, and write, edit, and proofread materials, including, but not limited to, the newsletter, internal and external communications, articles, social media posts, school handbooks, the annual report, fundraising materials, the admissions viewbook, presentations, the school website, and graduation and other special event materials. Work with communications manager to research and stay abreast of school happenings, assist in coordinating social media planning and execution, assist in creating an editorial calendar, and assist in the drafting of social media posts for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other platforms. Plan, create, and coordinate content for electronic school information screens. Source images for printed materials and electronic platforms. Coordinate editorial activities for monthly Gazette. Liaise with freelance writers and prompt interviewees. Write, edit, and proofread articles. Photograph events. Take minutes at weekly departmental meetings. Other duties as assigned. Experience Previous work experience in the areas of journalism, public relations, communications, or related fields.
