**About Us**
We are Casual Navigation, a growing YouTube channel that explores ships, naval engineering, and maritime topics. We’re looking for a detail-oriented **Animatics Assistant** to support our animation team in producing rough sketches and animatics that translate complex technical content into clear visual sequences.
This role is essential for improving production speed and allowing the Animatics Director to focus on high-level visual oversight.
**Job Summary**
The **Animatics Assistant** will follow the creative direction provided by the Animatics Director to create rough visual storyboards and animatics for upcoming videos. They will help break down scripts into visual sequences, adding simple motion and composition to ensure clarity and flow. The role requires technical illustration skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work with feedback to enhance video quality.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Create animatics and storyboards based on scripts and direction from the Animatics Director.
- Produce clear, low-fidelity motion visuals that outline scene transitions and timing.
- Develop rough sketches that communicate story beats and pacing.
- Work closely with the Director and Producer to align visuals with creative goals.
- Revise and refine work based on feedback to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Help streamline production by managing visual tasks efficiently.
**Qualifications**
- Demonstrated experience in storyboarding, illustration, or animatic production.
- Ability to draw confidently in multiple styles and adapt to established visual references.
- Must be able to follow character designs and maintain on-model consistency.
- Strong understanding of layout, composition, sequential drawing, and scene editing.
- Proficiency in illustration tools such as Procreate, Blender, Photoshop, or equivalent.
- Experience with basic video editing tools like After Effects or Blender.
- Strong visual storytelling and communication skills.
- Ability to take feedback, revise quickly, and manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with educational or technical content is a plus.
- 3D animatic experience in Blender is a bonus.
- Interest in the maritime, naval, or engineering space is highly desirable.
