**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Contribute to building a robust learning atmosphere that motivates students’ appreciation for being at school and feeling part of a joyful community.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Teach classes and guide student learning, promoting teaching and learning experiences based on the RED HOUSE pedagogical plan and special needs of each and every student;
- Know the pedagogical proposal of the school, the approach adopted and the learning expectations for that specific grade;
- Review the evolution of students in their learning process, collecting evidence and paying attention to individual needs, defining actions to improve performance;
- Develop, along with the coordination, strategies that promote the improvement and engagement of students, based on observation and evidence collection;
- Promote lessons and special strategies for students who present learning difficulties;
- Supervise the TA´s work in adapting activities for students with special educational needs;
- Watch over students´ safety, constantly staying with students in all activity, observing, guiding and interfering, when necessary, to avoid possible accidents and keeping this stance in a comprehensive way toward all students in the school;
- Observe attentively the students' attitudes and behaviors in order to identify sickness and take the necessary actions;
- Report to the coordinator the observed behaviors and student performance, in order to keep the families informed;
- Follow and comply with RED HOUSE guidelines (Language Policy, Teachers' Handbook, Assessment Policy);
- Draw up weekly plans at the frequency agreed upon with the coordinator and display them in a visible place in the classroom;
- Periodically review the weekly plans, considering the proposed and achieved objectives, redesigning if necessary;
- Submit for the coordination's approval copies of activities and material to be used in classes or projects, respecting deadlines;
- Keep accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations (class diary);
- Counsel students through evidence-based practices, handling conflict situations as proposed by school philosophy;
- Collect evidence of student learning during lessons;
- Evaluate students based on the collection of evidence of learning during classes, assign grades and submit them to the coordination according to the deadlines;
- Guide the TA as to the material that will make up the student's portfolio and supervise when the assistant is filing them;
- Provide the TA with clear expectations, deadlines and instructions, reporting to the coordination team identified developmental needs;
- Inform parents/guardians, when requested and with the supervision of the coordinator, about all students' development;
- Attend academic meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence;
- Be responsible for student materials and class management;
- Communicate daily occurrences related to students (accidents, illnesses, absences, etc.) to the coordination;
- Share relevant information about the students with the other teachers in the class;
- Comply with the deadlines set by RED HOUSE guidelines (report card, unit summary, unit planner, etc.);
- Perform tasks related to the above and those determined by the immediate superior.
- Minimum of 5 years of classroom experience;
- 2 years of experience as a tenured teacher desirable;
- Experience with classroom management;
- Proficiency in Spanish;
- Bilingualism;
- Microsoft Office Package proficiency;
- Experience with the IB Methodology;
- Education in Languages (Spanish);
- Education in Pedagogy (desirable);
