About the Role
The Market Reporter of Americas Chemical and Polymer Markets is the price reporter and pricing specialist covering Platts suite of spot prices, news, and analysis of the chemical and polymer markets across Latin and North American markets.
**The Team**:
Our Chemicals team is seeking a Price Reporter based in São Paulo to enhance our market reporting capabilities within the Brazilian Chemicals sector. This role is vital for strengthening existing pricing and content while providing valuable local insights and expertise. The reporter will focus on daily coverage of the Brazilian and US Chemical markets and contribute to broader initiatives across Latin America.
**Responsibilities and Impact**:
**Daily Coverage of Brazil and US Chemical Markets**:
Provide comprehensive daily coverage of the Brazilian Chemical markets, delivering timely and accurate pricing assessments.
Utilize local insights and native language proficiency to enhance the quality and relevance of market reports.
Engage with market participants, policymakers, and industry leaders to gather insights and foster relationships.
**Market Research in Latin America and US**:
Conduct in-depth market research to identify expansion opportunities within Latin America and the US, focusing on countries such as Brazil.
Assess market conditions, regulatory environments, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic planning and reporting.
**News-writing**:
Cover the Chemicals markets in Latin America and in the US with the journalistic view, writing news prices from breaking news to analytical pieces on a day-to-day basis.
**What We’re Looking For**:
**Basic Required Qualifications**:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Journalism, Economics, Finance, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering).
Fluency in Portuguese and proficiency in English (Spanish is a plus).
Strong analytical skills with a basic understanding of power markets and pricing mechanisms.
Familiarity with market analysis or reporting within the commodities sector is a plus (internships or academic projects).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel); experience with statistical analysis software is a plus but not required.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
Adaptability and willingness to learn in a dynamic market environment.
Understanding of the cultural and economic factors influencing the commodity markets in Latin America.
