**Job Description**:
We are looking for a **Research Analyst** to join Wood Mackenzie’s Power and Renewables team in **Rio de Janeiro, Brazil**.** The Power and Renewables research team provides integrated subscription, research and advisory services to inform and support our client’s commercial and strategic decisions in the complex and rapidly changing electric power industry. Combining our deep knowledge of solar, wind, storage, and grid technologies, with our global power and fuels modeling and analytical capabilities, Wood Mackenzie can provide data and insight spanning supply chain, technology costs, policy and market issues, fundamentals-based outlooks, price forecasting, asset valuation, and commodity market issues.

The Research Analyst will contribute to the delivery of long-term outlooks for the Southern Cone power market which includes Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. The outlooks are based on analysis of the dynamics impacting the power and renewables sector in the country. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team and make a major contribution to the energy transition solution.

The Research Analyst will help assist in the development and operation of models, databases and reports for the Southern Cone power markets. These responsibilities will include collecting market information/intelligence, analyzing data to generate market insights, and building analytical models to create market forecasts. The analyst will also be a point of contact between Wood Mackenzie and industry stakeholders and clients in the coverage area.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Contribute to market analysis on Wood Mackenzie’s long-term Southern Cone power outlooks.
- Own the development and improvement of Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary analytical models that underpin the market coverage.
- Develop and maintain forecast models and data sets across verticals within the Power & Renewables Practice. Collaborate with other analysts globally to leverage best practices across the organization.
- Provide high-quality client service to research subscribers through responding to inquiries, one-on-one conversations, and special events.
- Collaborate with peers across Wood Mackenzie to support research reports, conferences, marketing services and editorial coverage.
- Support specific consulting assignments related to the Southern Cone power markets as needed
- Originate, lead and write brief and timely insights regarding new market trends, strategies and other developments across the Southern Cone power markets.
- Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Southern Cone power markets.
- Support global LCoE research efforts with inputs for the Southern Cone power markets.

Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables promotes analysts as industry experts and as such, analysts must be thoughtful, intellectually curious, creative and comfortable presenting to public audiences and interacting with small and large groups of executives.

You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your work experience to date, therefore you are comfortable taking complex, disparate ideas and distil them into simple, provocative concepts. You have a minimum 2 years of industry experience in the power sector and hence knowledge of the structure of wholesale power markets and its operation.

You are a natural self-starter who can work independently and generate the ideas you want to share by leveraging and expanding your industry network. You are comfortable disrupting your routine as you will be constantly looking to learn and provide in-depth analysis on industry trends and innovative market dynamics.

You feel comfortable with the following key programming and software skills: SQL Server, Excel VBA, Python, Power BI, R, Aurora or PLEXOS and Power Query. You have a significant understanding of mathematical programming and optimiza
