Senior Climate Consultant

The Sr. Climate Consultant helps develop business opportunities for and carries out climate consulting work in NSF’s Sustainability Consulting unit.

Utilizing a strong foundation of client relationship management skills, the Climate Consultant will ensure that projects perform to deadline and quality expectations. They will also bring a curiosity about and ability to convert client challenges into new consulting engagements.

The Climate Consultant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- _Greenhouse Gas Accounting/Verification: _Perform inventory (or verification) of Scopes 1, 2, & 3 emissions for domestic and global clients from multiple sectors.
- _Climate Targets: _Set climate-related targets for clients, including Science-Based Targets.
- _Climate Transition Planning: _Develop strategies, emissions reductions tactics and/or action plans to help companies meet climate targets like Net Zero.
- _ESG Reporting: _Help clients prepare or verify information for CDP/TCFD, Science Based Targets, or other reporting systems that disclose climate efforts.
- _Risk and Scenario Analysis: _Support identification of clients’ climate risk and opportunities through scenario analysis and other methods.
- _Project Management: Ensure that client projects are maintained on-time and on-budget. Ability to work on multiple projects at once while keeping details and communications organized and updated is essential. _
- _Client Development: _Identify, develop, and convert opportunities for new client engagements with NSF sustainability consulting services.
- _Project Design: _Work with sales and consulting team members to ensure that proposals and projects are of high quality and accuracy.
- _Client Relationships: _Nurture client relationships through engaging and responsive communications, high-quality on-time deliverables, and professional demeanor.
- _Technical Leadership: _Work with clients and internal team to develop modeling techniques that address unique challenges and/or industry-level needs.
- _Thought Leadership: _Acting as a SME within NSF as well as representing NSF externally including but not limited to conferences, articles and white papers.
- _Information Presentation: _Generate or create written reports and presentations to reflect easily understood key outcomes and insights from project work.
- _Tools and Efficiencies: _Contribute to improving unit profitability by building or improving tools and IP that deliver on consistent workstreams.
- _Internal Relationships and Systems: _Participate in building a sense of team, accountability, and accomplishment by engaging in team meetings, updates, and/or cross-sector initiatives at NSF.
- _Other: _Other duties as required.

Can manage complex Scope 1-3 GHG calculations
Proven experience to identify and convert new client projects.
Experienced with aspects of climate-related reporting, including CDP
Ability to distill large amounts of information into concise technical findings, using exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
Proven experience simultaneously managing project workflows, multiple priorities, deadlines, and client relationships
Able to recognize limitations in skills and ability to deliver on project needs
Speaks English and Spanish at native or advanced level
Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a remote team environment across multiple seniority levels with mínimal supervision
Actively models NSF core values including respect, ethics, integrity, creativity and excellence

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Familiar with and able to calculate water footprints.
Experienced with corporate ESG reporting (self-produced, BCorp, etc.)
Experience developing company ESG supply chain engagement and/or monitoring programs
Networked in relevant industry to attract new clients
Enjoys building new systems and tools to accelerate results, standardize approaches and ensure quality outputs.
