Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Development Engineer focused on Unreal gameplay programming, you'll continue to grow your expertise in writing high-quality code while learning and using whatever breadth of skills are needed to make a game awesome for players. That may include adding functionality in Unreal Engine, writing gameplay features, or something else entirely. We are prepared to craft the role around the right person, whether you've been programming for 4 years or for 20. Teaching others first and maintaining a mentorship culture are key ingredients to our success.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

• A passion for games and entertainment that shows. Whether you love video games, board games, cosplay, or freeze tag — we want to know If it doesn't shine through your resume (e.g. work, academic, or community experience), please submit a cover letter
• 5+ years of professional game programming experience
• Experience working in a large, established code base
• Deep knowledge of C++ programming and best practices
• Flexibility and desire to work on a variety of game systems
• Experience developing with Unreal Engine 4/5 is a plus

Your Responsibilities

• Write code that is clear, well-tested and modular.
• Architect and implement features with an eye towards performance and maintainability
• Assist game teams with technology choices and follow through with implementation.
• Mentor more junior engineers via paired programming and code reviews.
• Work with project managers inside and outside our studio to deliver features to players.

Potential Roles and Growth Paths (Choose One)

• Tech Lead — Lead a tech team through mentorship, setting code standards, and designing and building systems.
• Engineering Lead — Hire, manage, and mentor a small group of engineers while maintaining client relationships and code familiarity.
• Tech Area Expert — Apply subject-matter expertise as a solo strike team focused on solving tech issues, advising client teams, and designing systems in your domain.

These are the salary ranges for the position in various regions.

Peru - 10, ,000 S/ per month
Brazil - R$15, ,000 per month
Mexico - MX$70, ,000 per month

For other Latin American countries, pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Gamebreaking Studios is a young, growing, LA-based company founded by technology leaders from around games, entertainment, and software. We found early success providing work-for-hire to other studios and now build everything from end-to-end games to online game platforms to individual feature integrations. We also develop our own games and IP alongside other projects.

Living and working outside the US at Gamebreaking

This position is open to candidates living and working throughout Latin America (pay varies by location). Applicants must be fluent in English, willing to work according to US time zones (must be available 8am - 3pm Pacific Time), and have a strong, stable internet connection conducive to remote work and video calls. Outside the US, we work with an Employer of Record ) to hire full-time employees. This works very similar to how employees would work for a company based in their home country. Note that work authorization in the country you will work from is still required.
