Staff Platform Engineer (Contractor $11,000 USD/month)

Our partner is looking for a Platform Engineer to join their team as a contractor.
This role will play a critical part in building infrastructure and ensuring operational excellence, combining responsibilities as a Backend Software Engineer (70%) and SRE/DevOps Engineer (30%).

We are specifically seeking professionals with experience in fast-growing startups, able to design and build tools that empower engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing products.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain infrastructure and tools to support scalable and resilient applications.
  • Work on backend development (Python/Django, APIs, SFTP integrations) and database performance optimization.
  • Design and implement cloud solutions (AWS, Kubernetes/EKS).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production environments, including Postgres DB (indexes, partitioning, sharding).
  • Configure and manage CI/CD pipelines and runners.
  • Provide on-call support and technical guidance to other developers when needed.
  • Contribute to performance and reliability KPIs, helping ensure operational standards are met.
Requirements

Backend Engineering Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of Python/Django (required).
  • Python + DB performance optimization (required).
  • Proven experience with API and SFTP integrations.
  • Feature development experience.

DevOps / SRE Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes (EKS on AWS).
  • Familiarity with Docker, Terraform, Helm, GitHub Actions.
  • Strong knowledge of Postgres and Redis.
  • Experience maintaining developer environments and infrastructure operations.
Ideal Profile
  • Background in fast-growing startups.
  • Ability to thrive in small, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong backend foundation with capability to handle SRE responsibilities.
  • Intermediate to advanced English for effective collaboration in a global environment.
