JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Operations team. The successful candidate will be a critical asset in managing, maintaining, and optimizing our diverse database ecosystem to ensure high availability, performance, and security across the organization. This role requires deep expertise across various database technologies and a strong focus on infrastructure and operational excellence. This candidate will manage the full lifecycle of secure, scalable databases across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments. They will design and maintain systems for high availability and performance, implement backup and recovery strategies, and collaborate with infrastructure teams on capacity planning and provisioning. They will proactively monitor and optimize database performance, conduct health checks, and automate routine tasks using scripting and configuration tools. Their expertise spans Oracle (RAC, Data Guard, Golden Gate), PostgreSQL, SQL Server (Always On, SSIS, SSRS), and other relational and NoSQL technologies like MongoDB and Cassandra. As a key operational support resource, this candidate will handle complex incidents, enforce security policies, manage access controls, and provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotational basis. They will also maintain clear documentation to support compliance and continuity. This position will pay $20/hour and is locanted in San Palo Brazil.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 7+ years of professional experience in database administration and engineering, specifically within an Infrastructure and Operations context. Proven mastery of multiple database platforms, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. Expertise in database security, performance tuning, and high availability configurations (e.g., clustering, replication, failover). Strong experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL). Excellent scripting and automation skills (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell).

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, PostgreSQL certification). Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker). Experience with database migration projects, including cross-platform migrations. Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.
