THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to our CODE team, Challenges & Gamification Squad team in Brazil 

CODE is an acronym for Consumer Digital Experience, which means we're in charge of the experience and services that will guide people in their wellbeing journey. Our main goal in CODE is to make every company, a wellness company. From knowing about Wellhub, and getting access to exclusive benefits, to using our vast partner's network, it is in the end-user experience. 

CODE teams are responsible for developing and maintaining Wellhub's App, frontend and  backend services, and Design System and work closely with product, UX, and data teams to create an excellent experience for the users of our platform.

Our mission as Challenges & Gamefication Squad is to make users have more fun using Wellhub Services. So, we are creating new products to engage the users. Also, we are working closely with health data platforms (like AppleHealth and Google Health) to have a simple way to access and share user health data across the Wellhub ecosystem.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you are a passionate developer who is driven by getting things done in high quality and timely. You will have plenty of opportunities to take part in and/or lead architectural decisions, suggest improvements and interact with the product team and other business stakeholders in a highly collaborative, agile environment.

You will be accountable for your decisions and possess a high level of ownership over the products you are delivering. You must be seen as one of the technical references by your team and take ownership of some critical features, perform pull-requests reviews, actively take part in all the architectural decisions of the squad, and mentor less experienced developers.

You are a data-driven person who asks for data to support product decisions before blindly implementing things. You simplify the scope of what you are constantly developing. You are bold and innovative.

You are eager to learn and share knowledge and improve your toolset of technical, business continuity, and communication skills to provide more and more impact to the company.

Perform insightful pull-request reviews and build reusable code for future useBe data-driven and participate in and/or lead architectural decisions, share improvement opportunities, bring innovation to the table, and make sure design docs are up to dateInteract with the product team and stakeholders to impact the businessEnsure successful deliveries and promote the long-term technical health of our journeysTake ownership of critical features, accountable and possess a high level of ownership by following up engineering and product KPIsEnsure a high bar on code quality standards, making sure devs are proud of their workTechnical reference for your team, spread development best practices such as code review, pair programming, TDD. We expect you to have the following qualifications:
A true team player who loves working towards both team and individual goals with at least 5 years of experience in web development.Experience designing and developing complex modern web applicationsExperience with at least two different programming languages such as Go, Scala, Kotlin, or JavaExperience with SQL/NoSQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, understanding common use cases and performance pitfallsExperience dealing with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS, etc., and an in-depth understanding of their use cases and pitfallsExperienced in implementing prototypes and in practices and concepts such as MVP, A/B testing, and feature toggles for rolling-out features to productionExperience applying computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complex analysis.Experience with monitoring, observability, and KPIs trackingExperience with microservices and high volume distributed systemsExperience with Cloud-based architectures in the AWSStrong communication skills, including verbal and written English and PortugueseBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent practical experienceYou have the ability to work both autonomously and collaborate in a team environmentA self-starter who can multi-task and adapt to a fast-growing organizationYou enjoy working on multiple priorities and projectsYou are tenacious and goal-orientedThe following would be considered a plus:
