Position Overview
We are seeking an M&A Director or Associate to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role offering significant exposure to all facets of mergers and acquisitions, with a particular focus on the evaluation and execution of investment opportunities through due diligence. The ideal candidate will have 2-5+ years of professional experience, preferably in public accounting, M&A, investment banking, private equity, or corporate finance. A professional designation such as CPA or CFA is highly desirable. The candidate must be willing to travel on an add-needed basis (up to 20% of the time).
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Sourcing & Evaluation
: Identify and evaluate potential acquisition opportunities in alignment with Vela's strategic goals. - Financial Analysis
: Conduct detailed financial modeling, valuation analysis, and due diligence for potential targets, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership. - Due Diligence
: Be an active participant in the due diligence process, working closely with internal teams, external advisors, and stakeholders to assess the operational and financial health of potential acquisitions. - Transaction Execution
: Assist in all aspects of deal execution, including preparation of transaction documentation, investment committee materials, and the management of external advisors (legal, financial, etc.). - Market Research
: Conduct industry and market research to identify trends, competitive landscapes, and strategic opportunities for growth. - Integration Support
: Collaborate with internal teams to support the seamless integration of acquired companies into Vela's portfolio, ensuring long-term success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- 2-5+ years of relevant professional experience in public accounting, M&A, investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or related fields.
- Professional designation (CPA, CFA) strongly preferred
. - Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deals and priorities simultaneously.
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and a team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in software, technology, or other vertical market industries is a plus.
- Familiarity with legal documentation and deal structuring.
- Fluency in English, Portuguese and ideally Spanish
