About the Role:
Nextracker is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team to design the next generation of Nextracker products. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing next-generation products, from concept to manufacturing.
What You Will Do
- Lead mechanical product design, prototyping, and testing of power electronics enclosures and support systems.
- Work closely with cross functional teams and external partners to ensure project goals and schedules are met.
- Develop comprehensive test plans, build test apparatus and validate design performance.
- Create documentation suitable for prototyping, design and production stages.
- Conduct in-depth analyses, including FEA (static, dynamic, thermal), CFD, and tolerance analysis, to optimize designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Present design reviews and technical reports to internal stakeholders and management.
- Investigate and resolve field failures or product performance issues.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;
- 10+ years of proven experience in mechanical design and product development, with a strong track record of successful product launches.
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks and EPDM, including advanced modeling, surfacing, and simulation capabilities.
- Extensive experience with FEA software (Ansys) and a deep understanding of structural mechanics and heat transfer.
- Thorough understanding of GD&T principles and their application in design and manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including machining, sheet metal fabrication, casting, injection molding, and additive manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience with DFM/DFA principles and their practical application.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high attention to detail.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
