About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly-skilled Senior Android Developer to be a key contributor in the development of our next-generation native Android applications. You will be responsible for building sophisticated, high-performance apps that run seamlessly across both phones and tablets.

This role requires deep technical expertise in the Android ecosystem. You will tackle complex challenges, including real-time location services, integration with external hardware, and robust document management. As a senior member of the team, you will help drive architectural decisions, ensure high code quality, and participate in the full application lifecycle, from conception to deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Architecture & Development:
    Design, build, and maintain advanced, reusable, and reliable native Android applications using Kotlin.
  • Device Versatility:
    Ensure optimal performance and a responsive UI/UX across a wide range of Android devices, including phones and tablets with varying screen sizes.
  • Location Services:
    Implement and optimize complex features leveraging location services, such as real-time tracking, geofencing, and integrations with mapping platforms (e.g., Mapbox, Google Maps).
  • Hardware Integration:
    Develop integrations with external devices and peripherals using technologies like Bluetooth/BLE, NFC, and USB.
  • Document & Data Management:
    Develop robust systems for creating, managing, storing, and synchronizing documents and data, ensuring offline-first capabilities and efficient data handling (Room, SQLite, Firestore).
  • Full Lifecycle Ownership:
    Manage your work across the entire development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to automated testing and debugging.
  • Deployment Management:
    Oversee the complete CI/CD pipeline and deployment process, including managing releases to the Google Play Store (handling different tracks, staged rollouts, and app signing).
  • Code Quality & Mentorship:
    Champion best practices, perform thorough code reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level developers through your expertise and example.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with backend developers to design and consume RESTful APIs (Retrofit, OkHttp) and WebSockets, and collaborate with product managers and designers to define feature specifications.
  • Performance:
    Identify and correct performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and ensure the application is optimized for speed and battery life.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Android Developer with a strong portfolio of published applications on the Google Play Store.
  • Expert proficiency in Kotlin and a deep understanding of the Android SDK and its core components.
  • Strong experience with modern Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture) and Jetpack components (e.g., Coroutines, Flow, LiveData, Room, ViewModel).
  • Hands-on experience with Location Services (LocationManager) and mapping libraries (e.g., Mapbox SDK, Google Maps API).
  • Demonstrable experience integrating with external hardware via Bluetooth (Classic/BLE), USB, or NFC.
  • Solid understanding of file I/O, local storage strategies (Room, SQLite), and experience with cloud-based NoSQL databases (specifically Google Firestore).
  • Experience with dependency injection frameworks (e.g., Hilt or Dagger).
  • Proficiency with automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Espresso).
  • Experience managing the full deployment lifecycle using CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and the Google Play Console.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, technical ownership, and a commitment to writing clean, scalable code.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Jetpack Compose.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ and the Android NDK (often required for deep hardware integration).
  • Knowledge of cross-platform development (React Native).
  • Understanding of backend systems or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Firebase).
