General

We are seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic, committed and inspirational Early Years/Key Stage 1 teacher. Potential candidates should have the necessary educational qualifications, as well as experience working with children within the age range 3-8 years old. A solid understanding of play-based learning is expected, as well as creativity and a child centred approach to learning and teaching.

Your Main responsibilities

  • Plan broad and balanced learning experiences, creating and selecting appropriate resources in order to support pupil progress and develop children's sense of curiosity and wonder about the world; 

  • Identify and monitor individual strengths, interests and needs, promoting differentiation and adaptations in order to support every child's full development; 

  • Ensure pupil progress by making use of formative and summative assessment to inform planning so that pupils are successful in their learning; 

  • Ensure a safe and effective learning environment is maintained by using the school's behaviour policy consistently in order to set clear and high expectations of pupil behaviour; 

  • Promote positive relationships through modelling and collaborating across the school community to ensure a respectful, safe and secure environment for both pupils and colleagues; 

  • Support children's language development and communication skills by modelling consistent and proficient use of English in order to provide effective immersion and development of the language; 

  • Support children's exploratory experiences and independence by planning activities and enriching education to foster children's curiosity and autonomy; 

  • Care for pupils' social, emotional and physical well-being, by creating a safe and positive culture that promotes a growth mindset where children feel comfortable enough to take risks and make mistakes; 

  • Understand how to recognise and report safeguarding issues following the school safeguarding policy and protocols; 

  • Collaborate and contribute towards the Junior School vision by participating in staff meetings and year group planning sessions; 

  • Share resources and best practice with the aim of participating actively in and working well within a team; 

  • Communicate effectively with parents by establishing a positive partnership, reporting on individual pupil's progress, well-being and other relevant issues in order to ensure relevant parties are involved, informed and working towards common goals, with pupils' best interests at heart.

Safeguarding

The offer of the role would be made subject to receipt of satisfactory references, proof of relevant qualifications, identification checks and other safeguarding checks (including Internet and Social Media profiles and exposure), an overseas check if appropriate and a pre-placement medical assessment. Job requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Fluent English (C1 Advanced or higher)

  • University teaching degree qualification (completed Pedagogia or equivalent) 

  • Great communication skills and ability to build positive professional relationships with staff, parents and pupils (references will be requested) 

  • Pro-activeness, flexibility, resilience and collaborative skills 

  • Passion for teaching and learning, and a true commitment to personal professional development 

  • Ability to understand and adapt to a different culture 

  • Full working knowledge of Office 365 

Desirable: 

  • Professional experience in the Early Years and/or Key Stage 1 (age 3-8) 

  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience as a class teacher 

  • Knowledge and experience of the EYFS and English National Curriculum for KS1
