We are looking for a Health & Safety and Civil Defense Officer.
Location: Goris, Armenia (with regular presence at 3 hydropower plants and reservoirs)
Job Summary:
As Health & Safety and Civil Defense Officer, you will join our HSE team In this role, you will report to the Health and Safety Manager, Armenia and will have the opportunity to support the activities of the HSE team in our 3 hydropower plants and reservoirs. Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:
- Develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and standards in compliance with local legislation and company standards.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and ensure implementation of preventive measures.
- Coordinate employee safety training programs, drills, and awareness campaigns.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and compliance reports.
- Prepare and maintain the company's emergency response plans (fire safety, evacuation, rescue operations, etc.).
- Liaise with local civil defense authorities to ensure full compliance with regulations and requirements.
- Stay updated with national laws, civil defense requirements, and international HSE standards.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
- Develop, monitor, and report Health & Safety and Civil Defense Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure performance and compliance levels.
- Promote a culture of accountability and continuous development in health and safety practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
Your profile is a natural match if you have:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in HSE and civil defense roles, preferably in energy production.
- Skills: Ability and readiness to work on-site at plants and field locations, ensuring accessibility to different operational areas as required.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (or higher).
- First Aid, Fire Safety, and Civil Defense-approved training.
What drives your application forward:
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor/Implementer certification is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of local occupational safety laws and civil defense regulations.
- Solid understanding and proven experience in construction and energy sector safety practices, including expertise in high-risk activities such as working at height, lifting operations, excavation, confined spaces, and electrical safety.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively during emergencies.
- Good communication and training delivery skills.
