Engineering Manager, Financial Accounting

Summary

We're looking for a very talented Engineering Manager with excellent technical skills to join the financial accounting squad at Pismo/Visa. This squad delivers all accounting entries of Pismo platform to clients thought the generation of platform events. Each financial movement, such as purchases, withdrawals, interest accruals and others should be reflected into accounting entries according to clients configuration. The main goal of the squad is to be connected and ready for all financial events that might occur through Pismo solution, allow multiple and flexible configuration of accounting script by our clients and assure the scalability of the solution 

What you'll do

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment well aligned to Visa/Pismo culture  
• Hire and onboard technical talent aligned with company culture and team goals. 
• Master the technical architecture of financial accounting and encourage the entire team to reach the same level of knowledge 
• Support for the on-call team regarding shift management and assistance in incident handling 
• Ensure system stability, data integrity, and scalability in accounting routines and transactions supporting the team to ensure an excellent incident response with rapid resolution and minimal client friction 
• Lead multiple initiatives by overseeing planning, estimation, prioritization, resource allocation, and execution, all within Agile methodologies 
• Implement and enforce best practices for software development (coding standards, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD) 
• Collaborate closely with the tribe QAs and Data team to ensure the quality of accounting deliveries and reports 
• Collaborate with product managers, engineering managers, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business requirements 
• Communicate plans, progress, risks, and technical decisions clearly and consistently to stakeholders 
• Support the team in ensuring robust scalability practices, including metrics, distributed tracing, and log aggregation, to meet SLOs and SLAs 

 This is a remote position. A remote position does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a Visa office location. Remote positions may be required to be present at a Visa office with scheduled notice. #LI-Remote

Language Skills:

• Proficiency in English at B2 level or above (Upper-Intermediate)

Technical Skills:

• 3+ years of experience with Golang.
• Experience with AWS services: SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, S3, and EventBridge.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices.
• Experience with REST APIs.
• Proficiency with Git and version control workflows.
• Strong testing mindset with experience in unit and integration testing.
• Knowledge of SQL (MySQL or PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Experience working in high-scale and high-availability environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Docker/Containers.
• Knowledge of messaging systems and event-driven architectures.
• Understanding of observability practices (monitoring, tracing, alerting).
• Background in Agile methodologies and production support.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or other IaC tools.

Basic Qualifications:

2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
