Staff Software Engineer

Risk Platform's agile engineering teams build the services, system integrations and analytic tools that enable WEX products and business lines to make smart risk decisions at scale as they grow. Major platform systems include credit decisioning, credit portfolio management, fraud detection, risk data analytics, compliance, and collections. Risk Platform engineers address the needs of our business partners by designing, building and deploying scalable, observable solutions utilizing modern, cloud-based service architectures and leveraging WEX's world-class AI and big data platforms.

*How you'll make an impact*

• Collaborate with stakeholders to learn about our customers biggest challenges.
• Design, test, code, and instrument new data products/systems/platforms at large complexity level with simple and high quality solutions.
• Effectively measure, inspect, and drive decisions using data.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform.
• Perform software development with TDD and BDD, Microservice and Vertical Slice Architectures with high efficiency, reliability, quality, and scalability.
• Support live data products/systems/platforms, promote proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and continuous improvement.
• Analyze existing systems and processes independently and effectively to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements.
• Attract high talents from industry to your team; help in interviews and provide quality and timely feedback.
• Role model at our team's process and best practices, and apply them to given tasks with help from peers and your manager. Proactively understand customer/business problems you try to solve with these tasks, and ensure your design and implementation can actually solve these problems in an effective, reliable, and sustainable way.
• Partner with, assist, or lead your peers on completing complex tasks.
• Own large complex components or systems/products/platforms.

• Hold your team accountable for delivering quality results using defined OKRs.
• Interact with Senior Managers to discuss plans, results, and advise on complex matters.

Experience You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. OR demonstrable equivalent deep understanding, experience, and capability.
• Master degree in Computer Science (or related field) and great years of experience in software engineering or strong experience in software engineering.
• Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Rich experience in designing a high quality and efficient solution for a medium/large complex level problem.
• Rich experience and strong implementation skills using languages like Java, C#, Go lang, & Python, including coding, automated testing, measurement and monitoring.
• Very experienced and with good understanding of data processing techniques, such as data pipeline/platform development, SQL, and DBs
• Very experienced and with good understanding of CI/CD automation.
• Rich experience in combined engineering practice and agile development.
• Passionate about keeping up with modern technologies and design.
• Strong willingness and capability to learn new technology and tools quickly when needed.
• Passionate about understanding and solving customer/business problems.
• Good understanding of data processing, storage, and usage technology.
• Good understanding and experience in using AI technology for productivity improvement and/or building innovative products.
