About The Role & Team
As the Legal Function We are a key enablement function, ensuring SITA has the right to do business across the globe and helping get deals across the line. We support SITA and our colleagues to "Get to Yes" sustainably, ethically and legally.
He/she will be a key player in a small team devoted to the support of all customer and related activity in the Americas Geography, with this role primarily focusing on the work SITA does at Latin American and Caribbean Airports and in the field of communications & data exchange. This is a sleeves-rolled up deal supporting role - requiring strong attention to both the control and enablement aspects of the legal function.
This important role reports to the Head of Legal for the Americas Region who is based in Atlanta. You will be a part of the overall SITA Global Legal Team of 30+ lawyers around the globe, which includes Geography-based legal teams in Singapore, Europe and Beirut, specialists/teams in M&A, Corporate Legal, Data, IPR, Sanctions, Ethics, Regulatory. The Senior Legal Counsel will be supported by, and work with these teams as relevant & Some travel will be required. You will also engage external counsel where needed.
The principal internal client is SITA's Latin American (LAC) GEO Sales team, led by SITA's LAC, Vice President. The role will involve direct customer negotiations and interactions, challenging and influencing stakeholders, fostering relationships, and navigating complex, ambiguous situations to deliver transformative outcomes. It is also highly pragmatic in focus: this is about matters that need doing each day.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for supporting all commercial activity in LAC, focusing on customer deals arising in the SITA at Airports business unit and the Communications & Data Exchange business unit. Provide advice and counsel to sales, bid managers, proposal managers and customer solution teams
- Successfully lead contract negotiations with customers to ensure SITA has both protected its interests while supporting its customers' needs
- Provide complex risk assessment analysis to internal stakeholders
- Plan, manage and address areas of legal risk and /or compliance on AMER GEO projects
- Support Purchasing group with supplier contracts and negotiations
- Maintain excellent inter-personnel communications and relationships
- Strong drafting with the ability to clearly communicate complex legal and factual matters
- Advising internal teams on SITA policies and procedures related to commercial contracts
Qualifications
WHO YOU ARE
- Degree in Law licensed in Brazil ideally, with appropriate legal qualifications (registered or licensed attorney, solicitor, barrister, or equivalent). Licensure in other jurisdictions a plus.
- At least 7 years of post-qualification experience in a mix of private practice and industry, with a heavy focus on commercial negotiations.
- High sense of ownership, strong commercial acumen, the willingness to get into the detail while keeping a clear sense of direction and purpose and the ability to work with colleagues across the SITA business - whether in Sales, Bid and Proposal Management, Finance, Tax, Operations, Engineering, Product or elsewhere.
- Analytical Mind: Excellent analytical skill and a strong understanding of commercial contracts and the ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders. You thrive on ambiguity. You challenge your assumptions, and those of others, you are able quickly to identify and formulate problems and their solutions and support your analysis with data and reasoning.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective Communicator: Impeccable written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, with the ability to present and explain legal concepts clearly and effectively.

You have a proven ability to work collaboratively in and across teams, and comfortable interacting with senior legal counsel, business leaders, and external partners.
