Overview:
The BackEnd Engineer will play a key role in developing and maintaining robust and scalable backend systems for Bunge's digital products. This role requires strong technical skills in backend technologies, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about building reliable and efficient backend services.

Essential Functions:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services and APIs using industry-standard frameworks.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define API requirements and specifications.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with team members.
• Troubleshoot and debug backend issues, and implement solutions to resolve them.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest backend technologies and best practices, and share knowledge with the team.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process and codebase.
• Ensure that backend systems are optimized for performance and scalability.

Key Relationships, Stakeholders & Interfaces (External & Internal):

• Internal: Frontend Engineers, Product Managers, DevOps Engineers, Database Administrators. Architects.
• External: Technology Vendors, Cloud Providers.

Knowledge and Technical Competencies:

• Strong proficiency in Python programming language and experience with leading frameworks like Django, Streamlit and similar.
• Experience with building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB (cloud databases are plus).
• Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud preferred).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD Pipelines, such as Build Validations, Deploys and Git Repos.
• Hands-on experience with NodeJS platform will be considered as additional advantage.
• Understanding of software development best practices and design patterns.
• Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Education/Experience:

• Typically Bachelor's degree with 3 - 5 years of position related experience, or equivalent combo of education and experience level.
• Experience with working in agile projects.
• Fluency in English
