You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilities

  • Drive quality, engineering and design continuous improvements in the Data Center to achieve the best operating, lowest cost infrastructure in the world.
  • Focus on fiber optic and optic components, cabling and interconnect products, technologies and standards. The scope may expand to mechanical and electrical (M&E) and other mission critical components later.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to establish a comprehensive Global Design Standards document, Global Installation Best Practice Guidelines, and detailed Product Specifications for Inside Plant Cabling.
  • Develop Quality Assurance manuals, manage amendments and revisions, formulate audit strategies, and define quality and operational metrics to effectively measure performance and success.
  • Audit and inspect Data Center & Edge sites to ensure standards are being followed, generate punch lists, report and generate remediation plans, action and close all customer complaints and defects, provide recommendations based on product and vendor performance.
  • Conduct training sessions with local Infra Delivery Teams and any other Infra Ops organizations to ensure deployments comply with design standards and best practices.
  • Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively
  • Support New Product Implementation activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time
  • Local Travel 40+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS Data Centers

The AWS Quality Team is a fast-growing team that is rethinking the implementation and design for the critical arteries that connect the various pieces of hardware inside AWS' data centers and edge sites.

As a member of this team, you will be charged with visiting our data centers and ensuring that we are following these standards while also collecting lessons learned so we are continually improving. You will also work directly with engineers, managers, and operations teams across the company to develop structured cabling and installation standards based on these observations and lessons learned.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in structured cabling, inside plant (ISP) infrastructure, or data center environments.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic, copper (Cat 5e/6/6A) cabling installation standards
  • Basic understanding of grounding and bonding requirements in accordance with ANSI/TIA, NEC, and BICSI
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, RCPs, BIMs, rack elevations, and cable schedules.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and documenting technical information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • In-depth knowledge of ANSI/TIA-568, 569, 606, 607, ISO/IEC 11801, and NEC Articles 300 & 392 (or related local electrical codes)
  • Familiarity with NEMA VE1/VE2 and IEC 61537 for cable tray construction and installation.
  • Experience conducting QA inspections in live data center environments with a focus on pathway fill ratios, cable diameter compliance, separation requirements, and firestop/fire rating compliance
  • Hands-on knowledge of fiber splicing, fiber testing equipment (OTDR/OLTS), budget-loss, and copper certification testing
  • Familiarity with data center best practices (e.g., hot/cold aisle containment, overhead vs underfloor cabling strategies).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
