In the role you'll be:

• Designing websites and brands that shape culture and create emotional resonance

• Working on everything from early-stage naming to full-scale brand rollouts - owning projects across the entire spectrum of brand development

• Going deep in Figma, Midjourney, and Adobe CC - expert-level proficiency expected

• Exploring new tooling and workflows (whatever helps build better) - constant experimentation is encouraged and expected

• Staying sharp on trends without chasing them - they set taste, not follow it

• Ideating with their engineers on implementation - understanding technical possibilities and constraints

The profile we're looking for:Background & Experience Indicators

• Studio experience at experimental/boutique design agencies similar to: Daybreak Studio, Primary, New Kid, Paper Tiger, or comparable creative studios known for cultural impact

• Educational background in interdisciplinary programs like Interactive Art & Technology, experimental design programs (similar to ELISAVA, Simon Fraser University, or equivalent)

• Portfolio showing diverse client work - startups, cultural institutions, artists, innovative brands (not just corporate/enterprise clients)

• Active in design communities - presence on platforms like Twitter/X, Dribbble, or personal site showcasing thinking and process, not just final outputs

• Evidence of side projects or experiments - demonstrates intrinsic motivation and curiosity beyond client work

Technical Competencies (Must-Have)

• Expert-level Figma - this is your primary design tool and you know it inside-out

• Advanced Adobe Creative Suite proficiency - comfortable across Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc.

• Experience with AI-generative tools - actively using Midjourney, and eager to experiment with emerging AI tools

• Understanding of web implementation - enough technical knowledge to collaborate effectively with engineers and understand what's possible

• Strong typography and layout skills - fundamentals are rock-solid

• Motion design capabilities (bonus) - can bring brands to life through animation and dynamic systems
