Technical Director Job Description

  1. Position Position

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Vice President of Engineering/Technology. Some small and medium-sized companies may report directly to the CEO.

Management Scope: R&D team, engineering team, or specific technical department.

Goal: Ensure the implementation of technology strategy, ensure timely project delivery, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the technology team.

  1. Core Responsibilities

(I) Technology Strategy and Architecture

Translate the company's technology strategy into actionable project plans.

Guide system architecture design and core technology roadmap selection.

Evaluate emerging technologies and promote technological innovation that is appropriate for the business.

(II) Project Management

Oversee the progress of technology projects to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery.

Develop R&D specifications, quality standards, and process management.

Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration (product, operations, marketing).

(III) Team Management and Talent Development

Manage the technology team (R&D engineers, testers, architects).

Responsible for recruiting, training, and performance management to build a high-performing team.

Guide the growth of key employees and build a strong technical team.

(IV) Operations and Quality Control

Ensure the stability, scalability, and security of core systems.

Promote the implementation of tools and processes such as DevOps, automated testing, and CI/CD.

Establish quality monitoring and feedback mechanisms.

(V) Cost and Resource Management

Rationally allocate technical resources and optimize human and technical costs.

Evaluate the use of external partners, suppliers, and open source technologies.

  1. Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology.

Experience:

8-12 years of technical R&D experience, including 3-5 years of team management experience.

Proven track record of successfully leading medium- to large-scale R&D projects.

Professional Skills:

Proficient in software development, system architecture design, or core technologies in the industry.

Familiarity with Agile development, DevOps, and project management methodologies.

Strong systematic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Leadership: Team building, communication and coordination, and strategic execution.

System stability and performance optimization indicators.

Team output per employee and efficiency improvement.

New technology implementation rate.

Talent development and team stability (staff turnover rate, core team growth).
