Location:
Remote (LATAM or Canada)

Contract Type:
Long-term, Open-ended

Timezone:
Must work EST business hours

About the Role

Were looking for a
Senior Python Software Engineer
with
at least 4 years of recent Python experience
in complex, distributed, high-volume environments. You're someone who not only tunes queries but understands
why
they perform the way they do.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and implement new features with sound engineering principles.
  • Drive initiatives to evolve our cloud-based architecture.
  • Contribute as a hands-on engineer while mentoring and setting a positive example for the team.
  • Work across the full software stack from user interfaces to data ingestion and storage.
  • Collaborate directly with the CTO and VP of Engineering to shape technical direction, processes, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development:

  • Develop scalable solutions using
    Python (Flask, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, GraphQL)
  • Design and support
    data lake architectures
  • Optimize complex SQL queries and data pipelines

Cloud & Data Technologies:

  • Work with
    PostgreSQL, SQS, Redis, Elasticsearch
  • Utilize
    AWS services
    such as Redshift, Glue, Kinesis, Lambda

Systems & Architecture:

  • Integrate distributed systems and third-party SaaS APIs
  • Design and implement scalable cloud-based software
  • Develop and deploy microservices with strong security practices

Additional:

  • Familiarity with
    React/JavaScript
    for UI development
  • Create and review technical documentation
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot production applications
  • Design end-user reporting systems

Required Skills

Technical Expertise:
Minimum 4 years of Python experience in high-volume, scalable environments

SQL Proficiency:
Complex query writing, optimization, and tuning

Communication:

  • Proactive, clear, and collaborative communication is critical in our fully remote team
  • Ability to brainstorm solutions, articulate technical risks, seek input, and drive decisions
  • Comfort working with customers, UX designers, QA engineers, and leadership
