The Senior Data Engineer will work on complex data engineering projects, deliver high-quality technical solutions, and provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers while adhering to best practices and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Create performant solutions following Snowflake performance best practices, ensuring optimal use of resources and minimal processing time.
Leverage dbt Cloud for data transformations, ensuring robust and well-documented code.

2. Technical Expertise and Guidance:

Act as a technical expert in Snowflake and dbt Cloud development, providing guidance and support to less experienced Data Engineers.
Mentor junior engineers, helping them develop technical skills, understand best practices, and gain familiarity with the company's infrastructure and data pipeline.
Answer technical questions and help solve problems faced by junior team members, ensuring consistency and quality in solutions.

Participate in technical discussions, providing input on tickets, bugs, and proposed solutions.
Raise concerns and identify obstacles proactively, offering potential solutions to overcome them.
Collaborate with the Lead Data Engineer on technical implementations and escalated issues.
Clarify requirements and business-related questions with the Solution/Product Owner, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and business objectives.

4. Continuous Improvement and Best Practices:

Follow and contribute to the development of internal coding best practices for data engineering solutions.
Stay up-to-date with new Snowflake features, technologies, and industry trends, incorporating them into project work as appropriate.
Continuously look for opportunities to improve existing processes, workflows, and performance across the data pipeline.
Required Knowledge and Skills
In-depth knowledge of Snowflake, SQL, and Git.
Basic experience with dbt Cloud or confirmed training in data transformations.
Solid understanding of Snowflake Architecture, including how to design and optimize data models.
Familiarity with agile implementation methods and project management tools such as Azure DevOps and Jira.
Ability to design efficient, scalable data pipelines and ensure the overall performance of the Snowflake environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.

Expectations

The Senior Data Engineer is expected to meet the same core expectations as a Data Engineer, with added autonomy and responsibility for complex technical solutions.
Ability to resolve assigned tasks independently and deliver solutions within project timelines.
Proactively mentor and support less experienced Data Engineers, ensuring the team follows best practices.
Engage actively in technical discussions, sharing knowledge and insights to drive continuous improvement.

Preferred Experience

6+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on Snowflake and cloud-based data technologies.
Practical experience with dbt Cloud or equivalent data transformation tools.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in an agile development environment.
Prior experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional team setting.
This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on advanced data engineering projects, contribute to the success of complex data initiatives, and grow your career while mentoring others.
