Volume Planning Manager, AMZL Capacity Planning

The Volume Planning Manager is directly responsible for generating AMZL´s overall volume plans at a national level, working with critical stakeholders to define mid/long term volume plans. Has scope of planning across all delivery channels and node types (DSP, EDSP, Hub, Flex).
The volume planning manager is responsible for managing AMZL's volume plans which will later be consumed by OTR and UTR planning analysts. They work with multiple inputs of information (such as upstream forecasts, mechanical capacity inputs per Cycle) to generate AMZL volume plans for the short, medium and long terms (W+2, W+12, Guidances and yearly planning cycles respectively). The volume planning manager is focused on improving forecast accuracy and variability, ensuring that upstream forecasts are calibrated according to network changes and daily volume behavior at each node. They ensure proper volume plan communication to all teams which consume forecasts for planning purposes (DSP, EDSP, Hub, Flex, Finance, PXT) and own dive deeps on critical planning assumptions such as Cycle Share for DSs, Child/Parent network and delivery channel mix in shared jurisdictions (Hub x DSP x Flex).
To be successful in this role, you must be able to work across disciplines, organizations, and geographies, translating complex technical and operational concepts for varied audiences. You must think big, move fast, and pivot frequently in a dynamic environment. Prior experience in demand planning and hands-on experience in such activities are a must.
Key job responsibilities
Work with Transports Planning and Supply Chain teams to capture and align on demand signals, understanding and sanity checking assumptions;
Work directly on calculating, based on existing methodologies and systems, the expected volume per delivery node, cycle and program;
Work with multiple stakeholders to align on key planning assumption such as shares per cycle, share per delivery program, coverage per node, amongst others. Drive optimal volume allocation between nodes.
Publish volume plans to key internal stakeholders, capture resource commitments from such teams to evaluate potential capacity gaps, following up on solve plans for such gaps;
Lead calls and coordinate action items and follow-up on critical topics related to balancing capacity and demand in the last mile space;
Work on and deploy process and systems improvements in the last mile planning scope, benchmarking on state-of-the-art processes, working with product and internal teams to deploy such improvements.
Work with transportation and supply chain teams to communicate and align on network changes that affect the last mile network.
About the team
Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is Amazon's "Last Mile" delivery service, responsible for delivering packages (and smiles) to homes and businesses across the planet. Within AMZL, the Planning team is responsible for planning critical business aspects of the operations such as geographical coverage, volume/capacity planning and weekly execution of the plans. We are focused on planning Amazon's last mile network to reach the best balance between capacity availability, productivity and accuracy.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (macros, pivots, lookups) at an advanced level
- Experience in capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis or similar
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English, and have the ability to take direction in English
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
- Knowledge of SQL
