Position Summary
The Associate Senior Commodity Business Advisor will play a critical role in delivering high-level thought leadership at both strategic and tactical levels, providing high-value insights to commodity-exposed businesses. Acting as a trusted advisor to investors, executives, stakeholders, and decision-makers, this role will focus on establishing in-depth subject matter expertise across various domains such as Finance, Legal, Tax, Regulatory Affairs, Research, Operations, Trading, Risk Management, and more. All of these individual expertise areas are welcome to post.
The Senior Commodity Advisor will contribute by providing thought leadership, value generation, strategic advisory, governance support, and business performance optimization to help clients accelerate growth.
This professional will work closely with advisory board members, senior management, and/or cross-functional teams, leveraging deep industry expertise to drive value creation, performance improvement, and business expansion.
The senior advisor will also engage with and in behalf of J.PACTA's global network of industry partners, financial institutions, and other specialists, ensuring that clients receive tailored, data-driven insights and actionable strategies to support their short- and long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Commodity Business Senior Advisory
- Act as a senior subject matter expert, advising investors, executives, and corporate decision-makers on strategic, operational, and technical matters.
- Lead advisory boards and governance initiatives, supporting senior management in business strategy alignment.
- Provide executive mentoring and strategic advisory, delivering solutions that drive business optimization and accelerated growth.
Thought Leadership
- Lead and influence in-depth thought leadership, gathering market intelligence and analyzing global and local commodity exposed business trends within your area of expertise
- Deliver high-level strategic briefings, reports and events speaking on truly relevant industry or business needs and trends establishing yourself as an authority, reference and credible SME Leader.
Strategic & Operational Support
- Develop and eventually oversee value-capturing, risk-avoiding, and market-expansion strategies.
- Provide technical insights to address operational challenges and align business practices with industry standards.
- Support clients in capital allocation, commercial negotiations, and investment decision-making.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain key partnerships with institutional investors, corporate leaders, traders, and financial stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted industry voice, delivering market/technical updates, trade insights, and validating investment recommendations.
- Identify, enable, and support business growth opportunities, including market expansion and structured commercial partnerships.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Work with J.PACTA's global trading advisory network, financial institutions, and industry specialists.
- Share exclusive market insights, policy updates, and industry innovations through public or private sessions.
- Ability to articulate, create and execute upon a vision based on industry in-depth expertise
- Lead executive roundtables, industry panels, and thought leadership discussions.
Qualifications
Core Expertise:
- Extensive knowledge of commodity-exposed business leadership within a specific subject matter area, serving one or various industries such as agribusiness, food, energy, metals, and finance.
- Strong senior strategic and analytical thinking, with a proven ability to lead, develop, implement, and oversee high-value strategies in commodity-exposed industries.
- Expertise and positive back-track performance exposed to corporate governance with a track record of proven growth or significant results generated in leading commodity-exposed businesses.
Experience:
- Between 20-35 years of experience in leading, operating, and/or being exposed to commodity-related business environment in your own area of expertise
- Proven performance track record in Senior Management Teams, Board of Advisors, Senior Executive, and/or Investor roles in complex commodity business environments.
- Strong academic and/or professional background, with a solid or growing reputation and authority in the field of expertise.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights for investor/executive decision-making.
- High adaptability and problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to navigate within multiple levels and types of organizations (local/multinationals, privately-owned/cooperative, industrial/service)
