Job Description

Legal Counsel position to carry out general legal activities at Latin America regional office, mainly to support with Key Strategic Litigation, and some other Consulting matters. This position will be assigned to manage key legal proceedings in the region as well as the pre-litigation cases, checking all applicable legal requirements, designing the strategy, and helping the Company to take appropriate legal decisions.

Key Job Responsabilities

• Oversee 18K+ active litigation matters across multiple jurisdictions, covering contract, tax and commercial law disputes.
• Support to Subsidiaries' local legal team: coordinate and review strategic cases handled by local office, providing insights and supports on demand. Our Subsidiaries are located in almost all Latin America countries, including Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Panama and Peru.
• Develop case strategy from inception to resolution, achieving favorable outcomes, by coordinating and supporting local teams and outside counsels.
• Analyze potential claims, conducting internal fact-finding meetings and document reviews. Assess legal risks associated with disputes and provide pragmatic advice to business stakeholders on potential outcomes.
• Select, retain and actively manage law firms, including negotiating engagement terms, setting budgets and fees, and ensuring high-quality, cost-effective representation.
• Review and approve all significant agreements, pleadings, motions and responses.
• Lead settlement negotiations, mediations and other alternative dispute resolution efforts to resolve conflicts efficiently.
• Provide regular, clear and concise reports on litigation status, risks and recommended steps to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law required.
• Prior experience in Law firms.
• Advanced English Skills.
• Advanced Spanish Skills.
• Deep understanding and experience on litigation and dispute matters.
• Ability to communicate and digest information in multiple fronts and layers.
• Proactive and organized profile and flexible to adapt to fast changing environment.
• Availability to travel across LATAM countries.
