Summary
This is an
on-site position at our plant in São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil
.

The role is responsible for overseeing the Product Engineering Laboratories (Application and Development Laboratory – LAD, in Brazil and the USA) as well as the prototype and engineering sample manufacturing processes, ensuring proper planning, development, evaluation, and process control. It involves providing technical guidance to the team and leading initiatives related to the implementation of technical standards and quality management systems in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, ensuring standardization and adherence to both internal and external requirements.

Strategically, the focus will be on continuously implementing best practices in processes and metrology technologies, including the integration of data analytics and artificial intelligence to accelerate and optimize testing, ensuring high performance across the laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy of the areas under your responsibility, ensuring compliance with engineering programs according to required technical standards and aligned with engineering, company, and corporate plans.
• Ensure the production of engineering samples/prototypes and product testing to validate functionality in accordance with required technical parameters.
• Oversee the production of customer samples, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and technical requirements.
• Secure all necessary certifications and testing documentation with the appropriate regulatory bodies.
• Drive continuous improvement in internal processes and in the management system of LAD (Application and Development Laboratory) and Samples, through corrective actions and other management tools.
• Develop new specifications, methodologies, and testing reports to be applied at LAD, ensuring accuracy and quality of results.
• Collaborate with other engineering departments in defining product concepts, components, standards, and specifications to support new product development.
• Keep up to date with technological advances in testing methods and resources, integrating data analytics and artificial intelligence to optimize and accelerate testing.
• Ensure proper functionality of LAD equipment and instruments, managing preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as calibration processes.
• Safeguard the infrastructure of LAD and Samples, being responsible for evaluating and approving internal and external services.
• Guarantee the availability of resources and supplies required to conduct tests and provide technical support for LAD and Samples.
• Plan and control laboratory budgets and CAPEX.
• Consistently promote and disseminate the company's mission, vision, values, LAD quality policies, and engineering strategies.
• Continuously monitor and assess team performance, providing feedback, promoting development, and ensuring qualification aligned with departmental goals and needs.

Required Qualifications And Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Availability to work on-site at our plant in São Carlos, SP (Brazil), and to travel internationally on a recurring basis.
• Advanced or fluent English, essential for team management and interaction with global teams.
• Knowledge in instrumentation and automation.
• Experience in new product development.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
