ABOUT THE ROLE

We are proactively seeking a highly skilled Software Backend Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing multi-tenant SaaS solutions and a proven track record in backend development.

 
As a Software Backend Engineer, you will serve as a technical reference for the team, providing guidance and expertise in backend development best practices. You will be responsible for important evolutions of our products in terms of scalability (they're global products)  and product evolution to address main customers demands and market opportunities. Your contributions will directly impact the success and global growth of our organization, making this a truly exciting opportunity.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on solving complex technical challenges at the intersection of platform engineering, and product development.

Key Responsibilities
Implement, evolve, and maintain core components of the VTEX IO Platform, including infrastructure layers and applications, runtime apps, builder apps, and etc.Develop APIs, SDKs, and developer tools that enable users to build and manage extensible appsCollaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, specialists, and designersWrite clean, maintainable, well-documented code with a focus on scalability and extensibility

The VTEX IO Apps Platform team at VTEX is building the foundation and tools for the extensibility of commerce interactions.

We are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the platform that empowers developers, product teams, and business users to create, manage, and scale extensible Apps that interact intelligently with customers, employees, and systems.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the VTEX IO Apps Platform team at VTEX, you are more than a builder — you are a problem solver, a collaborator, and a continuous learner.

You are someone who:

Proficient in Backend Development: Deep expertise in , and/or Go, and/or C#/.NET, building distributed systems, APIs, and microservices with strong database design skills.System Design & Scalability Focus: Experienced in designing highly scalable systems, optimizing performance, and applying caching, load balancing, and fault tolerance mechanisms.DevOps & Infrastructure Savvy: Competent with CI/CD, Docker, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CDK/Pulumi), and understanding monitoring/logging/alerting systems.Observability & Troubleshooting Skills: Proven ability in implementing application performance monitoring, distributed tracing, and incident response.Cloud & Advanced Systems (Nice-to-Have): Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, message queues, and advanced monitoring tools.You are hands-on and curious about AI, using LLMs, automation, and design/dev tools to boost speed, quality, and clarity in your workflow, while staying thoughtful about their limitations, safety, and responsible use.
