GET TO KNOW OUR AREA: 

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a part of Bayer's IT Foundations API Management & Integration team. We are seeking a talented Software Engineer with expertise in API Management, Full Stack Development and cloud technologies [AWS, Azure] to join our dynamic team.

YOUR MISSION WILL BE TO: 

A Senior Software Engineer develops, delivers, and integrates software and solutions to form a complete API and AI product portfolio.  Individuals in this role will:

Plan and lead full stack development on sets of related stories in the API Management Platform.Understand the whole API and AI Management products and take responsibility for teaching and guiding other developers and engineers.Work with other disciplines to understand what needs to be built.Coach and mentor more junior colleagues.Operate the production services and products being built.Find ways to improve system and products robustness, resilience, and stability.Collaborate with others to review user stories and code and develop implementation approaches.Use the agreed implementation approaches to design, code, test, and document scalable and reusable components for API and AI Management & Integration products of medium-to-high complexity, using the right standards and tools.Design API Management systems characterized by medium-to-high levels of risk, impact, business, and technical complexity.Select appropriate design standards, methods, and tools, and ensure they are applied effectively.Review the systems design to ensure the selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology.Implement API management practices.Work on both front-end and back-end development to create full-stack solutions.Apply Composable Architecture (microservices and modular components) principles.Implement solutions according to the systems designs to ensure the selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology.Enrich team solutions with artifacts that help developers code faster using AI coding assistants and vibe coding.Develop automation scripts to build, deploy and maintain API and AI Gateways (homegrown and vendor provided).Define the integration build and coordinate build activities across systems and API Management and API Gateway platforms.Understand how to undertake and support integration testing activities.Have a strong understanding of information security.Design API & Integration solutions and services with security controls embedded, specifically engineered with mitigation of security threats as a core feature.Approach prototyping as a team activity, actively soliciting prototypes and testing with others.Establish design patterns and iterate them.Use a variety of testing and prototyping methods and choose the most appropriate.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE POSITION?

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field;Solid experience as a software engineer;Fluent in English, both written and spoken;Experience in full-stack application development with , TypeScript and ReactJS;Experience in developing automations with , Python, Java;Experience in writing clean, maintainable, efficient code;Proficiency in API Management concepts and components;Proficiency in software design and architecture;Experience with version control systems (Git);Advanced understanding with IDEs (Visual Studio, IntelliJ);Experience of CI/CD tools and practices, with preference of GitHub Actions;Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes);Advanced understanding of database management, SQL and No SQL databases;Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools;Advanced understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure);Knowledge of API specification and documentation using OpenAPI and Swagger;Deep understanding of SDLC and methodologies;Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;Strong communication and collaboration skills;Attention to details;Ability to lead by influence, challenge and convince the various stakeholders involved in any project.

Preferred

Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design;Understanding of DevOps practices and tools;Proven ability to lead and mentor junior developers;Knowledge of static analysis tools like SonarQube;Exposure to monitoring and observability solutions like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Amazon CloudWatch;Strong understanding of software security principles and best practices.
