Position Title: Project Manager – Oil and Gas Construction Project
Location: Cabinda, Angola
Reports To: Project Director / Senior Management
Position Overview:
The Project Manager will oversee and manage the execution of oil and gas construction projects, ensuring that all activities are completed on time, within scope, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the project from initiation through to completion, managing the project team, budget, and timelines. This position requires a strong leader with excellent technical knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to manage resources effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
- Ensure all project activities align with the overall strategic goals of the organization.
- Define project deliverables and ensure timely execution.
- Coordinate with various internal teams and external stakeholders for efficient project delivery.
Team Leadership and Management
- Lead and supervise project teams, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and delivers according to project goals.
- Monitor and assess team performance, providing guidance and support where necessary.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among the project team.
Budget and Cost Control
- Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring proper cost controls and allocation of resources.
- Track and report on project expenditures, addressing any deviations from the budget.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions when necessary to avoid cost overruns.
Risk and Safety Management
- Identify potential risks to the project's success, including delays, safety hazards, or resource shortages.
- Implement mitigation strategies to manage risks and avoid disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations (HSE), adhering to the highest industry standards.
Quality Control
- Oversee the quality assurance and control procedures for the construction project, ensuring all deliverables meet the required standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure quality compliance.
Client and Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication throughout the project.
- Provide regular status updates on project progress, including milestones, challenges, and budget forecasts.
- Address and resolve any client concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner.
Procurement and Resource Management
- Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for the project.
- Ensure resources are available when needed, and adjust plans to meet changing requirements.
Project Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, plans, and approvals.
- Prepare and present reports on project performance, risks, and solutions to senior management.
Project Closure and Handover
- Ensure the successful completion and handover of the project, ensuring all deliverables meet contractual obligations.
- Facilitate the final project review and ensure all administrative requirements are completed, including final reports and evaluations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in managing oil and gas construction projects.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale projects on time and within budget.
- In-depth knowledge of oil and gas industry standards, regulations, and safety practices.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments and meet strict deadlines.
Desired Skills:
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience in procurement and contract management.
- Familiarity with budgeting and cost management tools.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Understanding of environmental and sustainability issues within the oil and gas industry.
Working Conditions:
- Site-based with occasional travel to various project locations.
- May require long hours and weekend work depending on project phase and deadlines.
- Adherence to strict health, safety, and environmental regulations is essential.
