This role offers an opportunity for a technical engineering manager passionate about open source software, Linux, containers, security, and developer experience, to shape the future of Linux from small systems to desktops.
The role demands high technical and management skills.Our mission is to enable everyone to build robust solutions in fields like IoT, automotive, and aviation using the next-generation secure embedded Linux OS.
We develop reliable device recovery mechanisms to simplify and standardize field operations for diverse appliances.As an engineering manager, you'll lead a team of skilled software developers to design and implement Ubuntu Core system software across CPU architectures such as ARM, RISC-V, and x86.
You will meet stakeholders, prioritize requests, plan roadmaps, and ensure your team meets its goals.
You'll influence culture, facilitate technical delivery, and collaborate on strategy and execution.What you'll doBuild and lead a distributed team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career developmentContribute directly to your team's goals demonstrating sound engineering principlesSupport timely delivery of technical solutions to meet business needsManage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholdersPromote modern, agile software development practices and organizational excellenceFoster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company valuesParticipate actively in leadership and collaborate with other organizational leadersWork from home with biannual travel for company eventsWho you arePassionate about technology and working with talented peopleCurious, flexible, articulate, and accountableExperienced in developing and growing engineering talentKnowledgeable and passionate about software developmentExperienced in leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developersCapable of planning and executing high-quality, timely software deliveryProficient in agile development environmentsHolding a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similarExperienced with embedded softwareSkilled in Golang, C/C++, and Shell scriptingSolid understanding of Linux, preferably Debian or UbuntuWe are committed to fostering a workplace free from discrimination.
