Devops / Distributed Systems Engineer (Azure • Elixir)

We seek a talented and experienced DevOps/Distributed Systems Engineer to operate and harden our Elixir services and Hyperledger Besu node network on Microsoft Azure to join our international team.

??Your Role and Responsibilities:
Run Besu on Azure: manage validators/peers, permissioning, bootnodes, IBFT/QBFT configs, genesis updates, hard-fork rollouts, and RPC/WS endpoints behind Azure gateways.
Storage & performance: size and tune Besu (JVM/RocksDB) with Premium SSD v2 / Ultra Disk, optimize IOPS/throughput, and implement snapshot/restore pipelines via Azure Blob Storage.
Networking: build secure, private networking with VNets, subnets, Azure CNI (Cilium), Network Security Groups, Private Endpoints/Private Link, NAT Gateway, and VNet peering/ExpressRoute as needed.
Traffic & ingress: expose RPC/WS endpoints through Azure Application Gateway or Nginx Ingress with Web Application Firewall (WAF), mTLS, rate limits, and IP allowlists.
Secrets & keys: manage validator keys and app secrets with Azure Key Vault / Managed HSM, Managed Identities, and least-privilege RBAC via Microsoft Entra ID.
CI/CD & GitOps: ship immutable releases using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps Pipelines, ACR (image signing/scan), Helm, and Argo CD (or Flux) for environment promotion.
Observability & SRE: wire up Azure Monitor + Log Analytics, Managed Prometheus/Grafana (or self-managed Prometheus/Grafana), OpenTelemetry traces, Alert rules, runbooks, SLOs/error budgets.
???Tech You'll Use:
Blockchain: Hyperledger Besu (IBFT/QBFT, permissioning); Geth/Nethermind familiarity is a plus
Elixir: Elixir/OTP, Phoenix, Ecto, Oban, OpenTelemetry
Azure: AKS, ACR, Azure Monitor & Log Analytics, Managed Prometheus/Grafana, Key Vault / Managed HSM, Application Gateway/WAF, NAT Gateway, NSG, Private Link, Azure Firewall, Blob Storage, Managed Disks (Premium v2/Ultra), Azure Backup/Site Recovery, Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, Entra ID
IaC & CI/CD: Ansible, Terraform, GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps
Logging/Tracing: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki/ELK (optional), OpenTelemetry
?Essential Qualifications:
4+ years in DevOps/SRE/Platform roles runningdistributed systemsin production.
Hands-on experience operatingEVM nodes(preferablyBesu) and tuning storage/IO, txpool, and pruning/archive modes.
StrongAzurebackground: AKS, VNet/NSG/Private Link, Key Vault, ACR, Azure Monitor/Log Analytics, and Application Gateway/WAF.
Solid Linux and networking fundamentals (TLS, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing).
Proven observability practice: metrics, logs, traces, actionable alerting, SLOs/runbooks.
Excellent written and spokenEnglish(daily collaboration across teams).
