Inside Plant Cabling Quality Assurance Engineer, DCC CommunitiesApply for the Inside Plant Cabling Quality Assurance Engineer, DCC Communities role at Amazon Web Services (AWS).AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovations they rely on.Key job responsibilitiesDrive quality, engineering and design continuous improvements in the Data Center to achieve the best operating, lowest cost infrastructure in the world.Focus on fiber optic and optic components, cabling and interconnect products, technologies and standards.The scope may expand to mechanical and electrical (M&E) and other mission critical components later.Collaborate with the Engineering team to establish a comprehensive Global Design Standards document, Global Installation Best Practice Guidelines, and detailed Product Specifications for Inside Plant Cabling.Develop Quality Assurance manuals, manage amendments and revisions, formulate audit strategies, and define quality and operational metrics to effectively measure performance and success.Audit and inspect Data Center & Edge sites to ensure standards are being followed, generate punch lists, report and generate remediation plans, action and close all customer complaints and defects, provide recommendations based on product and vendor performance.Conduct training sessions with local Infra Delivery Teams and any other Infra Ops organizations to ensure deployments comply with design standards and best practices.Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.Support New Product Implementation activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.Local Travel 40+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS Data Centers.A day in the lifeAmazon Web Services (AWS) is a highly innovative company that collaborates across disciplines to produce new technology.The AWS Quality Team is a fast-growing team rethinking the implementation and design for the critical arteries that connect the various pieces of hardware inside AWS data centers and edge sites.As a member of this team, you will visit our data centers and ensure that we are following these standards while collecting lessons learned to continually improve.You will also work directly with engineers, managers, and operations teams to develop structured cabling and installation standards.Basic QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.3+ years of experience in structured cabling, inside plant (ISP) infrastructure, or data center environments.Knowledge of fiber optic, copper (Cat 5e/6/6A) cabling installation standards.Basic understanding of grounding and bonding requirements in accordance with ANSI/TIA, NEC, and BICSI.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, RCPs, BIMs, rack elevations, and cable schedules.Proficiency in using inspection tools and documenting technical information.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.In-depth knowledge of ANSI/TIA-568, 569, 606, 607, ISO/IEC *****, and NEC Articles 300 & 392 (or related local electrical codes).Familiarity with NEMA VE1/VE2 and IEC ***** for cable tray construction and installation.Experience conducting QA inspections in live data center environments focusing on pathway fill ratios, cable diameter compliance, separation requirements, and firestop/fire rating compliance.Hands-on knowledge of fiber splicing, fiber testing equipment (OTDR/OLTS), budget-loss, and copper certification testing.Familiarity with data center best practices (e.g., hot/cold aisle containment, overhead vs underfloor cabling strategies).Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.If you have a disability and need a workplace accommodation or adjustment during the application and hiring process, please visit for more information.#J-*****-Ljbffr
