OverviewPython and Kubernetes Software Engineer - Data, Workflows, AI/ML & Analytics at Canonical.

This initiative spans teams that are home-based across multiple time zones.ResponsibilitiesDevelop your understanding of the entire Linux stack, from kernel, networking, and storage, to the application layerDesign, build and maintain solutions that will be deployed on public and private clouds and local workstationsMaster distributed systems concepts such as observability, identity, tracingWork with both Kubernetes and machine-oriented open source applicationsCollaborate proactively with a distributed team of engineers, designers and product managersDebug issues and engage with upstream and Ubuntu communitiesGenerate and discuss ideas, and collaborate on finding good solutionsWhat we are looking for in you (Qualifications)Professional or academic software delivery using PythonExceptional academic track record from both high school and universityUndergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen pathConfidence to respectfully speak up, exchange feedback, and share ideasTrack record of going above-and-beyond to achieve outstanding resultsPassion for technology evidenced by personal projects and initiativesWork ethic and confidence to collaborate with motivated colleaguesProfessional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skillsExperience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountabilityAppreciation of diversity; respectful in a multi-cultural, multi-national organisationThoughtfulness and self-motivation; results-oriented with a drive to meet commitmentsAbility to travel twice a year, for company events up to two weeks longAdditional skills that would be nice to haveProven track record of building automated machine learning solutions, data pipelines, or orchestrating workflows for the cloudHands-on experience with machine learning libraries or toolsExperience with container technologies (Docker, LXD, Kubernetes, etc.)Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)Working knowledge of cloud computingPassionate about software quality and testingExperience working on an open source projectWhat we offer colleaguesDistributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in personPersonal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per yearAnnual compensation reviewRecognition rewardsAnnual holiday leaveMaternity and paternity leaveEmployee Assistance ProgrammeOpportunity to travel to new locations to meet colleaguesTravel upgrades for long-haul company eventsAbout CanonicalCanonical is a pioneering tech firm focused on open source.
