OverviewEngineering Manager, Ubuntu Server - Ubuntu Pro role at Canonical.You will manage the team responsible for the software that manages access to all professional Ubuntu offerings.The role interfaces with multiple teams and partners to coordinate features, enhancements and integration across platforms.ResponsibilitiesBuild and lead a globally distributed team of engineersDevelop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback and hands-on career developmentWork with Product Management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your teamEffectively set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholdersAdvocate and advance modern, agile software development practicesDevelop and evangelize engineering and organizational practicesFoster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with company valuesParticipate in the leadership team and collaborate with other leadersContribute to engineering processes through code and architectural reviewEngage with Canonical teams, the open source community and commercial partnersOversee the quality of the Ubuntu Server image familyPlan and deliver Ubuntu Server featuresWork from home with global travel for internal and external events (up to 6 weeks per year)Qualifications3+ years of experience in leading, managing, coaching and mentoring software developers.Experience managing distributed teams is a plus.Strong track record of developing and growing peopleKnowledgeable and passionate about software developmentExperience working in an agile development environmentBachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similarStrong written and verbal technical communication skills in EnglishExperience with a modern GNU/Linux distribution; Debian or Ubuntu preferredPractical experience with at least one of Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web ServicesWhat we offerDistributed work environment with twice-yearly in-person team sprintsPersonal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per yearAnnual compensation review and performance-based bonusAdditional benefits reflecting company valuesAnnual holiday leave and parental leaveEmployee Assistance ProgrammeOpportunity to travel to new locations to meet colleaguesTravel upgrades for long-haul company eventsAbout CanonicalCanonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source.We publish Ubuntu and recruit on a global basis, with remote-first culture since 2004.We expect excellence and strive to be the best at what we do.Equal OpportunityCanonical is an equal opportunity employer.We foster a workplace free from discrimination.Diversity of experience, perspectives, and background create a better work environment and better products.We will give every applicant fair consideration.#J-18808-Ljbffr
