The Principal Pipeline Drafter may work autonomously within established Pipeline Drafting procedures and practices.
They act as a lead, coordinating the work of others.
The Principal Pipeline Drafter proposes improvements to processes and methods within the Pipeline Drafting discipline.Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Collaborate with project teams to develop and refine detailed piping system designs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specificationsPrepare accurate and comprehensive 2D and 3D pipeline drawings, layouts, and schematics using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) softwareReview and interpret project drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables to accurately capture project requirements and constraintsCoordinate with other disciplines such as process, mechanical, and structural engineering to integrate pipeline designs seamlessly into the overall project layoutProvide technical support and guidance to junior draftsmen to ensure high-quality and timely deliverablesConduct interdisciplinary clash detection reviews to identify and mitigate clashes or conflicts among various piping systems, equipment, and structuresAssist in the preparation of material take-offs, bills of quantity (BOQ), and requisitions to support procurement activitiesContinuously improve pipeline design processes and standards, staying updated with the latest industry practices, advancements, and technological toolsCollaboratively work with project managers and engineers to effectively communicate design progress, and challenges, and ensure timely completion of deliverablesParticipate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and HAZOP studies to provide valuable insights and contributions to the project teamImplement Prefabrication, Erection methods, and DC reports information into shop drawingImplement design change in the shop drawing based on approved SQ, TQ, SI and ARNIdentify non-original scope using Change Management SystemEssential Qualifications and Education:High School diploma or higher with a focus in Mechanical Engineering, Pipeline Engineering, or related fieldMinimum of 8 years of Pipeline Drafter experience in the Oil & Gas Construction Industry, with a focus on pipelines, and demonstrates a strong understanding of pipeline design principles and practices.Proficiency in using CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, PDS, PDMS, Bently Microstation, or similar tools, for creating pipeline/piping designs and drawings Familiarity with different pipeline materials, fittings, and supports, and their respective installation methods and constraintsStrong understanding of pipeline/piping design concepts, including isometric, orthographic, and schematic drawings Deep knowledge of industry-specific codes and standards like ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, API 570, API 1104 and ASME Sections VIII & IXExcellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality in drawing creation and review processes Strong understanding of interdisciplinary coordination and interface management among various engineering disciplinesEffective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholdersFlexible and adaptable mindset to thrive in a dynamic and challenging work environment
