Applicants should apply by 23 January **** Anticipated Start Date: 1 July **** Administer, implement, and develop Middlebury's academic program in Brazil.The Director will work closely with the Dean of International Programs to make and implement short and long-range programmatic and strategic plans.The Director will be required to develop and manage key relationships in a cooperative, strategic manner.Compensation is commensurate with experience and will be determined through a discussion with the hiring manager.Responsibilities will include: Core Responsibilities: Directs the day-to-day operation of undergraduate study abroad program, managing academics, finances, staffing, and student services.Oversees academic program, including course management and record maintenance.Monitors' teaching effectiveness, grading standards, student progress, assessment, and placement.Responsible for various aspects of student life, including discipline, advising, housing arrangements, internships, orientations, excursions, and co-curricular activities.Also handles matters related to security, safety, health, discrimination, and harassment.Fosters trust and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.Develops and manages relationships strategically.Handles Middlebury's communication with academic institutions, government bodies, and other organizations.This involves meeting all local legal and other requirements for the program.Oversees business operations in Brazil, including budget, partner university and organization agreements, and staff management.The director may have teaching duties based on qualifications and program needs.Works with marketing staff at Middlebury to recruit students to the program.This may include visits to other U.S. colleges to meet faculty and study abroad administrators.Requirements Ph.D. in a relevant field, with excellent teaching skills.Experience in studying, teaching, and/or administering in both U.S. and Brazilian higher education systems.Teacher-training experience.Crisis management skills.Skilled in advising and collaborating with faculty and staff in both U.S. and Brazil settings.Shows a commitment to inclusiveness and diversity.Excellent communication skills in Portuguese and English.Candidates must have work authorization in Brazil.Other: This role requires the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and be on-call for emergencies.It involves both office work and travel within Brazil, and occasionally, internationally.Benefits Localized payroll and benefits.
