Cloud Software Engineer

Progress Rail is seeking a motivated and skilled Cloud Engineer to join its dynamic team.This full-time remote position reports directly to the Cloud Manager and plays a key role in designing and maintaining scalable, reliable cloud infrastructure that supports our cutting-edge rail technology solutions.The role requires independent judgment, strong problem-solving abilities, resourcefulness, and the capacity to navigate ambiguity with creativity and initiative.The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a solid background in cloud technologies, capable of balancing speed, quality, and cost-effectiveness to meet both customer and business needs.Job Purpose:In this role, the candidate is responsible developing & maintaining ETL/ELD ingestion, API, Web and cloud systems, that deliver real time Railroad data to customers.About us: As a Caterpillar company, Progress Rail is one of the largest integrated diversified providers of locomotive, freight car and infrastructure solutions and technologies for the global rail industry.Our team's deep industry expertise ensures a commitment to quality through innovative solutions.Job Responsibilities:Maintain and develop new features for Ruby on Rails web application used for software and model simulation management.Maintain and enhance the ETL, web and API systems.Ensure the systems are highly available, scalable, and performant.Work with Amazon AWS services to deploy, monitor, and manage the systems.Collaborate with other engineers to design and implement new features.Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the production environment.Optimize the performance of the systems and ensure they meet security standards.Document the design, implementation, and operation of the systems.Architect and maintain front end web applications.Technical SkillExperience maintaining and developing new features in Ruby on Rails web applications, particularly those used for software and model simulation management.Experience in backend development with a modern programming language such as Python.Proven experience with ETL systems and API microservices development.Strong knowledge of AWS services and cloud architecture.Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.Experience building and deploying high-quality front-end web applications in Angular/Vue, React.Preferred Skills:Experience with video streaming services.Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.Deep understanding of microservices architecture.Experience with monitoring and logging tools.Familiarity with Java SpringBoot.Experience with PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Redis, MongoDB, Docker, and Websockets.Required Education Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.Language: Advanced English.Direct interface with global teams.Reporting to a Manager in the US.Soft Skills: Compatibility with Our Values in Action (Caterpillar Code of Conduct);Autonomy: Being able to manage yourself, deal with a large number of tasks and solve minor problems proactively and responsibly.Communication: Can clearly express ideas, thoughts and concepts in order to influence others or gain support.Problem Solving: Able to carefully analyze situations, understand the details and root causes of problems, and resolve them independently and effectively.Attention to Detail: Capable of thoroughly reviewing and interpreting facts, plans, or projects, contributing to quality assurance and impact analysis.Systemic Thinking: Able to see and understand the bigger picture, identifying processes, departments, and connections, as well as how they impact the final delivery.What we are offering for this position: - CLT contract- Health insurance for you and your dependents- Dental plan for you and your dependents- Meal vouchers- Food voucher- Life insurance- Application for discounts at gyms- Application for discounts on medicines in pharmacies- PLR - Profit Sharing- Private pension plan- Continuing education allowance- Extended maternity and paternity leave
