Shopify CRO Developer?? Location:Remote?? Compensation:USD $1,800–$2,500/month?? Working Hours:6 AM – 2 PM EST or at least 6 hours overlap within this windowOverviewWe're looking for asenior, hands-on Shopify expertto rebuild, optimize, and maintain a high-volume DTC storefront. Your work will directly impact conversion (goal:0.85% ? 1.6%+ in 90 days) and you'll collaborate with our CRO strategist, growth, and ops teams.This is atechnical execution role— not strategy only.?? Core Responsibilities1. Front-End Shopify DevelopmentRebuild key templates (Home, Collection, PDP, Cart, Checkout) with a mobile-first, conversion-focused approach.Implement CRO/UI enhancements: trust signals, sticky ATC, bundles, urgency, reviews, upsells, cart optimization.Replace heavy apps with custom code when possible to increase performance + reduce cost.2. Speed & Performance OptimizationBring load speeds under2.5 secondsacross top pages.Remove theme bloat: unused scripts, oversized media, duplicate app calls.Implement:Code splittingMinification + compressionDefer/async scriptsLazy loadingImage optimization via Shopify CDNMaintain a clean, version-controlled deployment workflow.3. Conversion & Funnel OptimizationDiagnose and fix checkout drop-offs + friction points (Shop Pay, PayPal, Prime, etc.).Improve ATC rate, product discovery, clarity, and mobile usability.Implement A/B testing variants from the CRO team or propose your own.4. Tracking, Instrumentation & AnalyticsConfigure and maintainGA4event tracking (ATC, IC, upsells, search behavior, scroll depth, etc.).Set up session recording and heatmaps (Hotjar or Clarity).Interpret funnels with the team and provide actionable recommendations.5. Reporting & CommunicationWeekly updates on:Conversion rate trendsAOV impactsFunnel drop-off changesSite issues or speed regressionsMaintain clear documentation and async communication with product, ops, and design.? Requirements3+ yearsbuilding custom Shopify themes (Liquid, JSON, JS, CSS, Shopify APIs).Proven results improvingmobile conversionandcheckout/speed performance.Hands-on experience withDawn/OS 2.0 custom theme development.Strong frontend fundamentals: modular Liquid architecture, performance-first coding, clean components.Deep Shopify optimization skills: theme speed improvements, app performance audits, and custom replacements for heavy apps.Experience working withhigh-volume DTC brands.? Nice-to-HaveExperience with CRO tools (Rebuy, Bundler, Zipify, Okendo, Stamped).GA4 modeling, attribution & Shopify Pixel system.Headless / Hydrogen experience.Hotjar / Clarity usage for experience analysis.Familiarity with Klaviyo event triggers.Experience partnering with CRO strategists, designers, or A/B testing teams.
