Job Description Zendesk is seeking a Staff Accountant to be a key member of the Global Accounting Team
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing general ledger maintenance and reconciliation as well as other duties to assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger (GL) close process.
This role provides assistance with implementing policies and procedures to ensure financial transactions are being executed appropriately and collaborates with other departments in terms of financial statement reviews.
This role will also navigate through a variety of other departments and activities related to accounts payables, accounts receivables, tax, and invoicing customers.The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast paced environment with a continuous improvement mindset.
A self-motivated problem solver, this candidate is flexible, adaptable and has strong collaboration skills.Job ResponsibilitiesYou will work with the third-party services providers based in Brazil and in Mexico (outsourcing firms) assisting on the activities related to accounts payables, accounts receivables, tax, and invoicing customersParticipate in the month-end close process, including journal entries, performing reconciliations, and preparing other analysis, ensuring accuracy of financial information.Accountable for providing assistance with the monthly, quarterly and yearly financial close processesAssists with implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are executed according to GAAP principlesPreparation of fluctuation analyses and performance of financial statement analytics, providing relevant explanations for fluctuations provided to senior managementAssists with accounts payables day-to-day activities, by reviewing and reconciling payments with bank reports, controlling payment dates, and requesting approvals.Assists with the process of invoicing customers bridging possible gapsAssists with indirect taxes and withholding taxes reconciliationParticipation in process streamlining and improvement projectsParticipation in annual financial audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors, including preparation and review of schedulesOther projects/ tasks as necessaryQualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance2 or more years of accounting experience – Big 4 public accounting preferredUnderstanding of US and local GAAP and applicable accounting rules and regulationsUnderstanding of indirect tax (ISS, PIS and COFINS) and withholding tax rulesUnderstanding Sao Paulo City Hall billing processIntermediate MS Excel skills required (VLooksUps, Pivot Tables, etc.)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organization skillsEnergetic, driven and dedicatedTeamwork-oriented (Strongly Preferred)Experience working with NetSuite or a large-scale ERPExperience working in a publicly-traded, high-tech, high-growth companyCPA or equivalent (in-process or obtained)Experience with Blackline account reconciliation and matching modules #LI-MR7
